OOPS! The Anchorage Police Department Forgot One

The Anchorage Police Department is so committed to full, unbiased, disclosure that they provide a list of Press Releases on their web site for the general public to review.  Here is the list of the most recent Press Releases, from the Anchorage Police Department web site,  including one from yesterday regarding Officer Rollins who was convicted of having committed rape on four separate occasions while on duty.

OOPS!  They forgot to list the press release they issued to the National Enquirer!  That one was sent out on 1-25-11.  However the only one listed on the 25th of January is the “Car Prowler Arrested.”  That one didn’t relate to Sarah Palin, Todd Palin, or Shailey Tripp.  It was a typical press release relating to an arrest made and a person charged with a crime. It did not comment on the suggestion that the husband of a celebrity who used to be the Governor might have been involved sexually with a woman charged with prostitution.  There was a “Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested” listed on 1-13-11, but that wasn’t Todd either.  Maybe Officer Parker has been so busy with the Rollins rape press releases, that he hasn’t had time to update his list of press releases or issue a retraction.  In an effort to be of assistance, I drafted a retraction that he might want to use today:

Press Release:

Retraction and Modification of Press Release to the National Enquirer of 1-25-11.

Shailey Tripp Investigation APD #10-1823

The Anchorage Police Department investigation and arrest of Shailey Tripp has recently been accurately characterized in internet blogs and in a National Enquirer article. Several errors regarding the investigation and arrest were reported by us in our press release to the Enquirer dated 1-25-11.

The police did NOT examine ALL of the evidence seized.  In particular we did not check the cell phones and computers.  If those items of evidence implicated Todd Palin or any other government official we wouldn’t be aware of that.  If the cell phones and computers are returned in the future, with information erased,…we don’t know anything about that.  We have had those items of evidence for almost one year, and a lot can happen in one year.  They could have been accidentally erased by police officers while having sex in the evidence room.

*The investigation of the prostitution operation was NOT initiated by Anchorage Police Department’s Vice Unit responding to internet advertisements.  Instead it WAS specifically the result of information developed from a tip from a specific person, William Fortier.

“Bloggers” have had no access to the evidence seized.  However the police records are public records so reference by those rabid bloggers to police records, is just plain embarrassing for the APD.

  1. Love this line: “We have had those items of evidence for almost one year, and a lot can happen in one year. They could have been accidentally erased by police officers while having sex in the evidence room.”

Thanks for the laugh! Keep up the great work.

  2. Malia,

Your “retraction/modification” offer was so mean!

    I love it!

Doubt they’ll use it though……..don’t want anyone knowing there’s anything other than coffee and donuts going on there.

  3. There was never an official APD PR on the 25th regarding the Tripp/toad case….no matter what Officer Parker might say. Whatever they sent to the NE was an unofficial favor to the paystub family. It was not a general Press Release as it was not released to the press or public, it hasnt been corrected (hard to correct something that doesnt exist) nor does it appear on the official APD PR list/website.

Do I believe him, or my lyin’ eyes?

  4. Malia, what about contacting the Police Chief to ask why the computer or cell phone evidence has not been examined. That seems like shoddy police work to me. I’d also ask if he can guarantee that evidence to be untampered. Put him on the spot.

After this officer rape and sex on the job (by many), I don’t place a lot of trust in the APD when it comes to sex and women. I think they need some further investigation into whether officers or other political or city leaders are on those cell phone and computer records. The law is the law, it should apply to all.

I don’t think it’s fair that just Shailey and KaShawn suffer consequences for their actions. Tickets or fines should be issued to customers, and if police officers are involved, jobs should be lost, as to politicians and city leaders, let the chips fall where they may. They should not be covering up for Todd Palin or anyone.

  5. This is simply one of many things they have covered up and lied about. One that should make everyone wonder is why the Anthony Rollins case was CLOSED and then reopened. If you look on Courtview you can see the case is REOPENED not open meaning they somehow closed that case and then due to pressure had to reopen it and take it to trial.

The the police are tasked with policing themselves nasty little things slip through the cracks.

Thanks for your vote of confidence. I don’t know if they’ll be successful hiding this information, but if they are, it won’t because I didn’t try to uncover the truth! Malia

  6. Malia, fear not about the evidence being lost or erased. If nobody knew the extent of the evidence on those cell phones and computers that the APD already knows about and has examined that could happen. But in this case the …….. oh just a minute the kettle’s boiling.

  7. Malia,

I think the sexual exploitation of Shailey Tripp by Todd Palin along with APD Officer Rollins recent conviction of sexual assault would be quite embarrassing for Alaska Governor Sean Parnell. You know, the Governor that is now promoting a “Choose Respect” campaign aimed towards diminishing the explosive rate of sexual abuse of Alaskan women.

Maybe you should write your next letter to Governor Sean Parnell and ask him what he is going to do personally about this situation. What will his response be? Will he put his money where his mouth is?

  8. The stink of the APD is apparent way down here in the lower 48.

P.S. Malia, I’m sure you are watching all the disclosures about the leaked manuscript by Bailey. I think part of the real story not covered yet is how the manuscript came to be leaked in the frist place. Apparently McGinniss is involved, but I find it unlikely that he leaked the document out of malice. He’s a pro so what really happened? Is the leak to find a publisher? Inquiring minds want to know.

  9. Thank you Malia for all you do. Why Sarah’s crap is so “unfamiliar” to so many is truly frightening. It is so hard to be a “liberal” these days. To me, liberal was the “middle”. Being around the age of 50, this Nation has moved way too far to the right. A Fan from from Seattle WA…………

  10. I question whether that ever was an authentic press release, or merely a phony attempt to appear as such by a friend of you-know-who.

    1. Parker said that he sent it out to the National Enquirer and other media outlets. THAT qualifies as a press release.

A single recipient might constitute a letter to the editor, but a handful of publishers, or more??? If Malia can get more information from him, the names of the other media outlets might also illuminate this affair, especially if Tiemessen told him which sites to propagandize.

  11. From Chief Mew’s press release today. “I want to reassure this community that each and every complaint made against an employee of this department will be investigated fairly and professionally. If the complaint is criminal in nature it will be handled as such. No one is above the law, least of all those who have dedicated their lives to enforcing the law, and to keeping Anchorage safe. Like any institution, APD is composed of fallible humans, but we will not allow that to excuse wrongdoing.”

Police Chief Mew or Officer Parker may not think this press release business is a big deal, but it is, Officer Parker helped in a cover up and it could be much, much more than what we know.

I know the Police Chief wants to put the bad rape pr behind and move on, he may not be in the mood for more BS, but there just may be more reprimands and house cleaning needed. Seeking a prostitute not as damning as rape but both are against the law.

    Just my 2 cents.

Gee maybe we can contact Detective Mott (?), he seems fearless and did a thorough job on Rollins.

  12. Oh Malia–Some Alaskans are going to rue the day they didn’t spill all they knew about the Palins early on. Business as usual has a way of getting waylaid when lots of light is shown into all the dark corners. Maybe that will be the silver lining from the sick Palin era. Exposure, punishments, justice, and a clean slate for the good and fair-minded citizens of the far Northwest. Bloggers are certainly putting many well-paid journalists to shame. Keep at it. You are our modern-day muckrakers–the Progressive Era would not have happened without them.

I am just so tired of this crap! I am willing to respect a police officer or politician who is honest and tries his/her best. However Sarah Palin is not that person, and I am so tired of people trying to act like she is! When the Anchorage Police Department gets involved and issues a comment to NATIONAL ENQUIRER, then they are per se, not fair and impartial. Malia

      1. –Once upon a time, no one outside Alaska was even looking at this stuff. Sort of who cares, every community has its pathologies. The national microscope has now been focused, and it probably won’t go away until the citizens of Alaska stand tall and tell all they know. That’s a good thing, and I suspect there are political science graduate students today trying to translate and dissect the Palin phenomenon. Her ridiculous presence on the national stage says something about us as a country. What is it? That answer is what we’re really after–not sentencing Palin to a probably well-deserved jail term. (Although that’s the icing on the cake—I personally would like her to have to sit down with David Kernell’s mother in a small room for an extended period of time).

  13. Is there a City Council person that may be able to get a reply from the Chief about the rogue PR issued exclusively to the NE? Since the ‘ole Chief is so keen on PR’s and transparency and their good name, I’m sure he would be happy to issue an actual PR to clarify the non official PR ordered by a random lawyer for his non client mentioned in a tabloid.

NONE of what Parker says passes the stink test. None of it. Its all bullshit!

  14. What kind of evidence is necessary to arrest a John, aside from actually catching him in the act? Presumably cell Phone records are insufficient in this case, because Todd may have called just for a massage. Also, unless he specifically stated he wanted sex in an email or set up sex for someone else via email, the record would be circumstantial? Is it necessary to follow up with the witness that National Enquirer said saw Todd go in, make lots of “noises” and exit? or are records of payments sufficient? Also, he will probably be in need of these services again so will maybe slip up in the future?

Shifting gears towards Palins international non competency, she states on her facebook notes that NATO should establish a no fly zone over Libya, as if this is an easy thing to do, which it is not, and which has huge implications for commitment of international forces.

    1. Did all the clients pay in cash? Did they all pay with personal money?

The financial trails could provide evidence. A $50 expenditure, paid for by check and check number logged in the receipt book is a massage. If it is part of physical therapy, it would be a regular entry on the calendar and in the book.

Those cruiseships of traveling businessmen probably paid by credit card and probably amalgamated items for the expense reports and tax reports…”dinner & entertainment $400″ or “afternoon at a spa-$200” appearing on a form in the home office in Omaha or St Louis wouldn’t raise eyebrows.

Local leaders wanting to avoid local embarrassment would probably use cash. How much do Sullivan and Parnell etc., make per year? Such men probably carry hundreds of dollars in their wallets without a second thought.

Actually, the more embarrassing revelations would be preachers or policemen… professions that typically do not pay that well, yet allow access to lots of cash. If the business used both a ledger and a receipt book, the massage recipients would want receipts, but the sex-seekers would be horrified to discover that there was a ledger.

In any case, the paper trail, if examined, would be quite interesting.

I am so sick of women being used and abused! We have so many men that support us and respect us, and for each of them I am especially grateful. However there are people like John McCain who used Palin, and either she didn’t realize it or didn’t care. Of course there were several other female Senators and Governors who were Republican and who all were more educated and experienced than Palin. Yet, McCain picked Palin because she was a pretty woman. That’s why it only took a meeting of about 30 minutes for him to “assess” her credentials, because of course for him, all he needed to know about a woman is …Is she pretty? Malia

I wonder if it had anything to do with your interest in this case. Hope so. I thnk a letter to Gov Parnell would be great especially coming from someone like you attorney, author, very respected blogger.

  16. Malia, thank you for work, the implications are stunning. Perhaps we need to consider this in light of a pattern of gender discrimination as in civil rights violations. Since the level of corruption, abuse of power and the use of selective prosecution as a means of intimidation seem to permeate every level of Alaskan gov & law enforcement, it may qualify for a federal complaint and investigation. It almost seems the entire State government has been, in essence, hijacked by this crowd. RICO Act comes to mind.
