Sarah Palin is “Tripped Up” With Her Own Words

One of our readers, Crystalwolf, brought to my attention yesterday an interview Sarah Palin did with Sean Hannity on Fox. I had seen this interview but had focused on the comments about Herman Cain and Palin’s comment “Boys will be Boys.” Here is the interview. This interview was given Dec. 1, 2011. Portraying herself as the victim, Sarah Palin disparaged the masseuse who said that she had given a massage to Sarah when she was Seven Months pregnant, and that the masseuse could tell that she was not pregnant. By her own words, Palin has confirmed what she was trying to deny. Here are the facts:

1. Shailey Tripp’s book Boys Will Be Boys was not published at the time of Palin’s interview on Fox. The publication date of that book is Feb. 16, 2012. Thus the interview took place almost three months before the book was available.

2. At page 69 of Boys Will Be Boys, Shailey Tripp identifies the massage she gave to Sarah Palin as having occurred in the first week in March. Until the publication of that book, the only public statement Ms. Tripp had made regarding the massage was the statement given to Gryphen at the Immoral Minority. In that interview Ms. Tripp was much less clear about when the massage took place. Shailey said…

”Um, I want to say that it happened in the end of February, early March of 2008, but it definitely happened between January and the beginning of March.”

3. Shailey Tripp never spoke with certainty about the date of the massage, or the extent to which Sarah Palin was supposedly pregnant. In fact Shailey Tripp confirmed that based upon her assessment of Sarah Palin that whenever the massage took place, Palin was not pregnant.

4. Trig was born, according to Palin, on April 18, 2008.

5. On March 5, 2008 Palin announced she was seven months pregnant.

6. The following documents have been sent to me reflecting the massage of Palin given by Shailey Tripp.

As indicated, on the second page of the form, the date of the massage is March 4, 2008, two days before Sarah decided she needed to be pregnant.  Not only do the forms indicate that Sarah Palin declared that she was not pregnant, they reflect details about the massage that indicate Palin would have been laying on her stomach to allow massage of her neck and shoulders. Never has Shailey Tripp given any statement about how pregnant Sarah Palin purportedly was, but only when she gave the massage to Palin.

By making the remarks she did in the Hannity Interview, Sarah Palin reveals that she is not repeating what Shailey Tripp reported, but what she would herself say if she was re-telling the imaginary story of her pregnancy with Trig. Palin is right, it would be ludicrous for a masseuse to give her a massage when she was 7 months pregnant, and not notice. The only logical conclusion is that Sarah Palin was not pregnant on March 3, 2008 when she received a massage from Shailey Tripp. That is also consistent with the first page of the massage form reflecting the history taken by Shailey Tripp of Sarah Palin on March 4, 2008.

It is also important to note that Shailey Tripp did not have custody or control of these documents maintained by the spa, so she would have been unable to create them, or alter them, at a later time.  These documents were not provided to me by Ms. Tripp!
