E-Mail to Lisa Murkowski Re Sex Trafficking in Alaska

The following is an message sent today to Lisa Murkowski, at her e-mail address. I would encourage anyone interested to send a similar e-mail to this address.

To: Senator Lisa Murkowski

From: Malia Litman

Date: July 18, 2011

As you know from previous correspondence I write a blog regarding Sarah Palin at malialitman@wordpress.com. It is my understanding from your own web site that you are concerned with sex trafficking in Alaska.  I understand it is a major problem in Alaska. There is a possibility that very high profile people may be involved.

Shailey Tripp was arrested and charged with running a house of prostitution, to which she pled “no contest.” Ms. Tripp indicated that Todd Palin was one of her customers. The Anchorage Police Department has shown by their conduct that they are helping Sarah and Todd Palin. They have refused to investigate Todd Palin’s involvement in a prostitution ring, they have issued false and misleading statements to the National Enquirer, and they failed to follow up by reviewing cell phones and computers in their possession that might have implicated Todd Palin and/or other Alaskan government officials.. Shailey Tripp has now given her statement and published it on the internet for anyone to see. Shailey has revealed that:

“… Todd Palin along with other people recruit and groom men and women to be prostitutes. These prostitutes are eventually given positions inside a company and used to secure business deals. These business deals often involve obtaining military and government contracts. The people who use the prositution services are usually in positions of power.

I have witnessed this first hand and am speaking from my own personal experiences.

… I used to think Sarah Palin knew nothing of these kinds of things but I’ve had a year to think it over very carefully, and I am now convinced Sarah Palin not only knew of these actions but went through great lengths to cover it up.”

When the husband of a potential candidate for the Presidency is accused by a prostitute of being involved in recruiting prostitutes, there is an urgency to the investigation of these allegations. If you are truly committed to addressing this problem it is important to initiate an immediate investigation into this matter. If you, as the Senator from Alaska, can not influence Federal Investigators to initiate a thorough investigation into this matter it is unlikely that the problem with sex trafficking in Alaska will be addressed.

  1. Malia –
I got online to see if you had posted anything this morning. I had been thinking about Lisa M and wondering what was going on. Voila!! There you are with a powerful letter to her. Good job. She may not respond to you, but she has already “outed” herself on this subject.
It could be there are things going on we will never know about – or at least not for a long time. Hopefully a real investigation. I was watching MSNBC this morning and a woman on there was being interviewed about some research that was done on prostitution. She talked about how people refer to this as a victimless crime. She said because of the way young girls/women are dealt with – they are definitely the victims. Unfortunately – how would you make a john understand that?

    1. Pat,
I think we will be the last to know about any investigation, but the more focus there is on this issue, the better for the people of Alaska, and America. I think the johns understand the abuse they inflict on their victims, I just think they don’t care. Malia

  2. Great letter Malia.
I hope Alaskans will follow up and do the same..I have found that if you contact a representative who is not your own, they tend to ignore the correspondence.

    1. Sally,
I think you are right and generally this is true. However the fact that this sex trafficking message appears on Lisa’s web site, tells me that this is a subject that she cares about, and the more people who also care, regardless of the state they live in might make a difference.

I don’t know what we will learn in the next year, but I have a feeling that if Palin declares that she is running, we will hear a lot more, from a lot more people.

  4. From Senator Murkowski.. She’s having a Twitter Town Hall Meeting tomorrow. She wants to hear your thoughts tomorrow http://t.co/piLcXxB

Thank you Malia for a thoughtful letter. You should ask her via Twitter for tomorrow’s meeting. I appteciate you sending her the information so she knows.
Sex trafficking is a issue to be concerned about in general. And, behind the scenes the Senator is committed. However, I can’t predict whether the Senator will take on this issue in association with Todd Palin. Not in public anyway. You can’t blame her, can you? If he’s ever actually charged, she now can’t say she wasn’t informed.

    1. Syrin,
I think she knows, and I’m sure its a very politically charged matter, but better to know now than during the campaign of Sarah for POTUS. Better for the Republicans to expose this now rather than the Democrats later, and I suspect that if Palin runs, it will come out.

  5. did you hear anything back on this? even if you didn’t, not hard to imagine someone in their ranks letting the other know the topic was being pushed. when you hear of palin muttering yes she is, maybe she isn’t running, consider the possibility that the consequences of this very letter of yours is weighing heavy in all their minds. congratulations! 🙂
