We Already Told Trig “Happy Birthday” Twice!

By now most readers have heard or seen the Wonkette article that has caused companies to pull advertisement from the site. JackSteuf has issued the following apology:

“ UPDATE: I regret this post and using the word “retarded” in a reference to Sarah Palin’s child. It’s not nice, and is not necessary, but I take responsibility for writing it. For those who came and are offended by this post: I’m sorry, of course. But I stand by my criticism of Sarah Palin using her child as a political prop.

–Jack Stuef

Wonkette has reportedly put the author on probation because of the article.  Without doubt the article was disgraceful, unnecessary and obscene. However the commentary misses the point.

Clearly the author intended the attack to be focused on Sarah, and Trig’s birthday was simply the mechanism for the attack. The photoshopped picture at the end of the article that displays Trig saying “I’m with stupid” is a vivid indication of the author’s intent. h However the radio show linked to the picture uses disgusting and unnecessarily foul language regarding Palin. It does damage to everyone who attacks Palin with facts and documented information to disparage her with such a vile attack.

The real point is that from the moment Palin was introduced at the RNC she has repeatedly used Trig as a symbol for her right-to-life position. However the lack of involvement in his life is evident from the number of speaking events Sarah Palin has attended without Trig or her other children. We didn’t see Trig with Sarah when she appeared to give speeches to the conferences for special needs children. That would have been the appropriate place for him to appear. His absence conveyed Palin’s real attitude which is that giving birth to the child (if she did) was the extent of her responsibility for the child. Afterwards he appeared only when she needed a reminder of her political position on abortion. Newsmax even credited Trig for saving McCain’s pro-life candidacy.  Throughout the campaign when it was cold Trig made appearances. On the book signing tour, Sarah dragged Trig out of the bus for a photo op before the signing began. The amazing thing is that Sarah few on a private plane to most of the book signing events and simply met Trig in the bus on the way to the event.

On Google Images over 200,000 images appear when searching for “Trig Palin”. Yet virtually none of the images are pictures of Trig wearing his much needed glasses.  On the TLC show Trig was left with a babysitter for virtually every adventure. In the eight episodes we saw a particular focus on each of the Palin children,…all except Trig. There was an episode when Tripp, Bristol’s child was included, but Trig was not. If there is a nanny who provides consistent care for Trig, we didn’t meet her.

On the occasion of Trig’s third birthday, we are reminded of his abandonment. Various web sites supporting Palin remembered Trig’s birthday. See for example: (1) and (2) .

However the most revealing is this one that mentions Sarah’s own tweet that included this picture:

“Today is Trig Palin’s third birthday! Governor Palin shared this tweet and picture this morning:

Awww…growing up to be a fisherman! Happy Birthday! http://yfrog.com/hs9azfoj

This is the picture featured when Trig was celebrating his second birthday.

This is not a mistake in my post. The mistake was in failing to take a picture on Trig’s third birthday. Did they even have a family party? Did they even make him a cake? I guess he had Down’s syndrome when he was two years old, and he still does, so Sarah would have no reason to need a more current picture.

  1. Palin may be pro life, but she also appears to be ‘pro institutionalizing’. That is, she has done the closest thing possible to sending Trig to an institution by leaving him with a perpetual nanny while she galivants around the country on her own. (He diminishes her ‘glamor’ image, which is more important than her maternal image. Also, the younger he looks, the younger she is.)

That you caught the Palin gang using the same photo twice — a year apart — speaks to her lack of involvement in his life. Once this faux-pas comes to her attention, it will be swapped for a more up-to-date photo and any MSM outlet that picks up the story will be vilified instead of the ‘mother’ who is so careless of her child and his needs.

That’s the first thing I always, always think when I see that photo of $P and bare-legged, jacketless Trig in your top photo, taken in 2009 during the Going Rogue tour. That’s what the thermometer read that night.

I couldn’t find it this am,but maybe you know where it is, but there is another picture of Trig, …I think walking the parking lot without any shoes,…the same night that Palin was wearing a coat and that Green Hat!

      1. That was taken December 5, 2009, at BJ’s Bargain Warehouse in Fairfax, Virginia. The handful of Trig Truthers (including me) were exiled to a far corner of the parking lot, and it was snowing. I’ll try to find the picture of Trig and bring it to ya!

      2. I’ve tried and tried to find it, but the only photos available for that day are of $P in her Fidel Castro hat, and of $P indoors. S’pose someone scrubbed the photos of the underdressed Trig? However, I’ll e-mail it directly to you if I find it.

How she dares to use that sweet precious little angel just for political purposes! I’m so sick of her!!!
And what about that tweet! Couldn’t her ghost writer come up with something a little more credible! The only thing that tweet does is showing the world what cold biatch she is! It’s so obvious she doesn’t have any feelings toward that little boy. Poor baby =(
God I hate her, and I’m not even American!

  4. Most people would not have realized that the pic is one from last year… This fact actually should be shouted out everywhere!

Now I wonder WHERE the little guy is – if he is still with the Palins, or back with his birth mom, or if they have put him into a home for Down Syndrome children…

At first I thought I was just imagining it, as I was sure I must be mistaken, and that there must be a picture of Trig somewhere on the Internet with his birthday cake. But no it was just this picture from his second birthday. malia

  5. It just makes you want to cry when you see that picture of that poor little baby bare legged and no jacket and piper in the background bundled up and yet hugging herself as if she’s still cold. Or the thought of a little boy not yet three years old going to the hospital for a surgical procedure without his mom there. Can any of you imagine not being with a 2-1/2 year old at the hospital?

      1. They never said what the “procedure” just that both sarah and tawd came down to the lower 48 while poor little Trig was in the hospital. I’m not sure where I read it, here, Malia? Or maybe Palingates. I’m sure someone else remembers it, it’s been within the last 6 months.

  6. After all this time, that photo from her fake bus tour with poor Trig out in the cold still gives me the willies. When I carry my BUNDLED UP children in cold weather, I instinctively hold them close and try to cover them with my arms as much as possible. Seeing Trig without pants, carelessly slung on her hip while she cheers for herself is chilling. Ditto for the ghoulish smiling gawkers taking photos. I like to think she is using an old photo because Trig will not let her near him anymore!

  7. That is SO creepy that she used the same photo! Good catch Malia. I thought she looked younger in that photo. She has really aged in the past year or two.

  8. I did not read that post on Wonkette so I can’t even comment on that.

However, I think it is interesting that you commented on Trig’s glasses because Regina (Palingates) was talking about ear splints and the fact that there are no pictures of the baby with the splints. How many times did he have glasses, a coat, shocks & shoes, and his hearing aid?

I can’t even believe people could think she is a good mom. It boggles my mind. Not including the above, you have the wild ride story, taking the baby to work after 3 days, shoving Bristol under the bus, kids changing their schools (that is if they are in school), etc.

If this woman had been on the democrat ticket she would have been shredded to bits by all the people who think she is a goddess.

    1. Oops, I meant to include changing their schools all the time. In OH you have to live in the city where the school is located. You can’t put your kids in another city school. I would have thought it would be that way all over the U.S.?

  9. Malia (and others), I’m working on as thorough and well-researched an e-mail as I can put together for an intelligent acquaintance who says he would vote for Palin and asked what my objections to her are. There are a couple of things I would like to bring up that you mention, and I’m wondering where I can find unassailable primary sources (for me you’re an unassailable primary source, but he’ll probably write you off as some liberal hater blogger).

Where can I find evidence, preferably in her own or RAM’s words or some other right-wing outlet :),
    1) that Palin made Trig ride the book tour bus while she flew?
    2) that she missed his surgery?
    3) that he does in fact need the hearing aids and glasses we never see? (Is this true for all DS children? I have no idea.)

THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO TO EXPOSE THIS FRAUD!

    1. Please elaborate on Trig’s surgery, “Alaskan” up above inquired as to what I was talking about. I don’t believe it was ever released as to what the “surgical procedure” was. But I know I read that sarah and tawd were either down here in the lower 48 or left while he was in the hospital.

      Like

      1. IIRC Trig had surgery on the Friday before the November election, Palin went to W.Va for a rally for that guy who actually lived in FL but was running in W.V. but I know it was a last minute scheduled rally so it wasn’t as if it was planned months in advance for her to be there. However, she was there on Saturday after leaving Trig in the hospital on Friday after his surgery. I imagine there was a family member there, maybe $arah knows who it was, but I wouldn’t count on it. On Sunday, she and Todd continued their trip by going to NY to see the Jets game while sitting in the owners’ box. They stayed in NY so she could be on Fox on Tuesday to comment on election night and the following day went back to Alaska. Why build a studio if she “had to go to NY for elections”….she didn’t have to go, she wanted to go. She dumped Trig on someone else, as usual, and she and Todd get to go to the Jets game. Sounds like something most Moms would do, right? WRONG! No way in hell I’d leave my children the day they had surgery no matter how well the surgery went. Everyone usually feels fairly well immediately following surgery due to the effects of the pain medication and being a little out of it. It’s the next day that it really hits home. Palin has proven that she doesn’t give a damn about her kids with this one trip. I’ll see if I saved anything in my favorites about this. If I find anything, I’ll post it for you.

I don’t know if Sarah thinks at all! It seems that she focused on Trig’s bday when he was two and at least took a picture. Now that he is three it seems that picture is the only one she had…so maybe she decided that two birthdays were enough to celebrate since Trig probably doesn’t understand the concept,

Had she not paraded her kids everywhere they wouldn’t have been targets. I don’t know the Governator’s kids names, and quite frankly, I don’t care about his kids. He was elected to govern, not his kids. His relatives by marriage created Special Olympics. What has the lying grifting fraud Palin done for special needs kids? Yeah, pretty much nothing, unless you count shoving Track, Bristol, Willow and Piper down our throats, too.

I look forward to seeing this bunch of crooks doing perp walks. I have no hope for Piper, given her example of a family.

  13. DebinOH, it may be different in each state, but I know that in at least some states, if you don’t live in a district but want to send your kid there, you can pay a tuition fee so that taxplayers’ money is not involved. IIRC in our district, it was about $12,000 a few years ago.

    1. Thanks ferry fey. I always wondered. I do know that if you registered your child in another district and used a friend or families address and they found out you didn’t really live there they would send you a HUGE bill.

      1. I’m a retired GA teacher. It is against the law here to send your child to a school outside of the district in which you live without paying a fee, DebinOH. Several parents in a neighboring county were prosecuted for breaking this law last school year.

      2. I lived in a county/state where you could apply to a school in a different district, and they would take a certain number of out-of-district kids. You didn’t have to pay, but you did have to get your child to and from.

  15. Can we imagine any legit reasons for not including an updated photo or for the absence of trig in SPALaska or how Trig shows up or not at events? Could he possibly have health or behavioral issues that make it best for his sake to keep him off camera, or have the Palins come to realize that the more their kids are on camera, the grater risk to their safety. Is it possible to find any logic is this? For example, maybe Sarah didn’t actually tweet about Trigs birthday, but one of her “writers” did and they didn’t have a recent photo. Also, if I recollect from a group we taught at an outdoor school several years ago, the level of disability for DS kids can really vary. Maybe Trig has some specific issues that make caution and privacy more necessary these days? I can say, no matter what the surgery, I would not leave my kid in the hospital any more than a few hours, assuming another close relative or friend could be with him.

  16. Your article is full of falsehoods, but I am going to correct this particular one for you: the photo that you say was featured on Trig’s second birthday did not even exist at that time. It was taken on July 4, 2010 and was taken on Willow’s 16th birthday.

The slideshow in my article that you linked to on the Sarah Palin Information Blog was created on April 18, 2010 and updates every time new photos are added. Therefore you will see photos taken after Trig’s second birthday in that slideshow.

I’m sure there were family photos during Trig’s third birthday celebration, but being that it was a family and therefore private matter, we may never see them. We simply post photos at SPIB that are publicly available.

Your deception about Governor Palin’s use of the same photo twice for a birthday greeting to her son is a prime example of the media “making stuff up.” You should be ashamed, not only for your dishonesty about the photo, but for your dishonesty in general by portraying Governor Palin as less than the excellent wife and mother that she is.

I linked to the web site where I found the picture so if I am in error, you and the rest of the Palin supporters should feel free to correct me. 3. I am not part of the “media” and I didn’t make this up. I may have misinterpreted the information available but the links show that I wasn’t trying to make this up. If the picture is as you say then the Palin web site should have been clear that it was an updated photo, and not one from long ago. By the way, where are the photos of Trig’s birthday party? I saw the birthday celebration for Willlow, but I haven’t ever seen any birthday party photos for Trig’s birthday. If you think she is an “excellent” mother, then I assume you don’t have kids of your own. Malia

I went back to check the information I posted and Palin’s Twitter comment from “April 18th, 2011, THIS YEAR, ON TRIG’S BIRTHDAY, posts this photo. If this photo was taken as you allege on July 4, 2010, then I would ask you why she is posting a picture that is over 9 months old to wish Trig a “Happy Birthday”.??? I guess she wasn’t really interested in making Trig’s birthday special, but was more interested in the PERCEPTION that she cared about her son’s birthday! Most mothers who would post something like this for our kids that we care about would post a picture the day AFTER the birthday with pictures of the birthday celebration. Even if what you say is true, and the picture is from July 4, 2010, is that the best she could do to commemorate a special event in the child’s life over NINE months later.? She should be ashamed! If she was smart she wouldn’t have posted any picture, and just let the audience imagine a great party that they had for him. Most likely they gave him the same amount of attention they gave him when he had his surgery. Yes she is a great mom!
