Sarah Palin Fails to Comment on Donald Trump’s Toxic Delusions of Grandeur

 

29 is the number of “cringe-worthy” remarks made by Donald Trump in his speech to the Boy Scouts.  That speech was made on Monday night July 24th.

We know from the transcript of the July 25 interview published by Politico on Tuesday, Trump challenged a Wall Street Journal reporter who said the speech had received “mixed” feedback.

“There was no mix there,” Trump said.

“That was a standing ovation from the time I walked out to the time I left, and for five minutes after I had already gone. There was no mix.”

However Trump couldn’t leave it at his own praise for his remarks.  He went on to claim:

“And I got a call from the head of the Boy Scouts saying it was the greatest speech that was ever made to them, and they were very thankful. So there was ― there was no mix.”

An official with the Boy Scouts apologized to the Scouting community on Thursday July 27th for the political content of President Donald Trump’s speech at the National Scout Jamboree.

“I want to extend my sincere apologies to those in our Scouting family who were offended by the political rhetoric that was inserted into the jamboree,” said Chief Scout Executive Michael Surbaugh. “That was never our intent.”

On Wednesday the The Boy Scouts boldly explained that no such phone call was made. Let me repeat myself…the leader of the organization that identifies one of their core principles to be “trustworthiness,” refuted Trump’s claim that a phone call took place, or that there was ever a contversation with the President about his politically heated speech at its national jamboree.

Trump also lied about a phone call from the President of Mexico.  Trump claimed the President of Mexico called him and said that “their southern border, very few people are coming because they know they’re not going to get through our border, which is the ultimate compliment.”  But Peña Nieto, the President of Mexico has denied that such a phone call ever took place.

 

 

 

The White House has now conceded that neither phone call took place.

It wasn’t that Trump just misreported the content of the phone calls.  He totally lied about two different phone calls ever being placed!

Trump’s lies about these phone calls are a perfect example of the characteristics of a person with a severe case of Narcissistic Personality Disorder.  The characteristic is called “self-aggrandizement.”  It is defined as “a pattern of pompous behavior, boasting, narcissism or competitiveness designed to create an appearance of superiority.”  It is a toxic delusion of grandeur.  “Self-aggrandizement is a colloquial term which broadly describes Narcissism, the most defining trait of people with Narcissistic Personality Disorder. It differs from general boasting, which most of us indulge in now and then, in that it can often manifest in aggressive, ruthless or manipulative patterns of relating.”

A recently published authority on Narcissism identified characteristics of Narcissism.  Only 5 of these need be present to diagnose a person with narcissistic personality disorder (NPD):

1. Has a grandiose sense of self-importance.
2. Is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love.
3. Believes that he or she is “special” and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions).
4. Requires excessive admiration [regularly fishes for compliments, and is highly susceptible to flattery].
5. Has a sense of entitlement.
6. Is interpersonally exploitative.
7. Lacks empathy: is unwilling [or, I would add, unable] to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others.
8. Is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her.
9. Shows arrogant, haughty [rude and abusive] behaviors or attitudes.

The question is not whether there are 5 that fit Trump’s behavior.  The real question is whether there are any that do not describe Trump?

With these gratuitous, confirmed, lies of Trump, you might expect Sarah Palin to remark, telling another lie to try to hide Trump’s lies.  However Palin fails to acknowledge or comment on the verification of Trump’s lies.  Instead she features an article on her blog about the evil leaker of a phone call between Trump and the President of Mexico.

It is noteworthy that Palin’s title for the article makes reference to a

“BREAKING: Trump Phone Calls LEAKED.”  The transcript of the phone call in Palin’s article was from a phone call between Trump and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto.  However, it was not the one that Trump lied about.  Perhaps Palin hopes her readers will read only the headline, and never realize that the phone call President Trump was talking about was the one made the subject of this article.  It appears Palin doesn’t think her followers are any smarter than she.
