The Eyes of Texas Are NO LONGER on the Undefeated

Grapevine, which is located half way between Ft. Worth and Dallas, was the location of the debut of Palin’s movie, the Undefeated.

Based upon first hand information from the manager of the theatre, the first weekend total ticket sales were 408 for the entire three day weekend.  The movie opened Friday the 15th.  On Friday July 29th, the movie the Undefeated is no longer even playing at the theater in Grapevine.  I called and listened to the prerecorded message giving the movies and show times for the theatre and the Undefeated was not listed.  I went to fandango and checked the theatre where it had been playing, and it was reported to be gone from that theater.  The advertisement on the internet that appeared on my screen after typing the name Sarah Palin for the last two weeks displayed a reference to the movie as the first item on the screen.  Today there is no reference to the movie.  Even thoughTexas is traditionally a “Red” state, it appears that the conservative base in Texas has little or no interest in watching the Empress.

Original reports indicated the opening weekend of the Undefeated brought in $65,000.00.  However ten days later the total proceeds from the movie was up to a measly $101,000.  Thus the movie that cost one million to make will gross roughly 1/10 of the cost or $100,000. The Eyes of Texas are no longer on the Undefeated!

  1. Malia – reporting here from Southern California (Ontario). We were one (of 4) of the “expansion” cities, added for the second week of release, which was Friday 7-22. I could never reach an actual human being at the ‘AMC Ontario Mills 30’ cineplex to get attendance numbers, but “The Unattended” is no longer listed on their recording or in the paper for today, the 29th. It is kaput – after only that one week “limited engagement”, as the paper advertised it.

Obviously, Ontario was one of the ‘liberal’ markets they said they’d test in, and it bombed big time. What – did they think they could brainwash all 1,500,000 of us in the Inland Empire?? I’ll bet if I ever did get the attendance numbers, they wouldn’t top 200 for the week.

Thanks for the information. That inspires me to see if its being shown anywhere! I’ll report back. Malia

  2. The 14 day box office total was roughly $106,000. They need to yank it at this point, it’s nothing but a waste of space!

I wonder if the fact that it is no longer in Grapevine is an indication its been pulled from all theaters and that’s just not being publicized. Malia

  3. “The Unattended” wil not even break even, and this was the big launch for her Presidential dreams (our collective nightmare.) Will this make her go away? No, but it does show the fatigue that her her so-called fans have with the evil Sarah. When you can’t even get the willing dupes to shell out eight bucks, where does that leave you? Will she see the writing on the bathroom wall?

  5. Hooray. This experiment of hers to become president by being a Kardashian-style celeb indicates that her shrinking base will/cannot respond to too many Palin appeals. Book(s) + speaking fees + movie appear to strain their interest and/or pocketbooks.

And, forgive me because I don’t know the names of small towns in TX, but opening in “Grapevine” (and some of the other 10 locales named) is scarcely comparable to opening in N.Y., Austin, L.A. New Orleans, Boston or Seattle. There are probably too many “lefties” in those locales to have interested Bannon, but apparently there are too FEW “righties” in the locations he picked!

    1. BW,
I think they picked Grapevine Tx because it could easily be reached by anyone in Ft Worth or Dallas, and the mall it is in has a restaurant called the Rain Forest Cafe. It’s a place with robotic animals that is a world of fantasy. They probably hoped that some of the people that ate there might be attracted to the film.

  6. Put a fork in my mom, she is done! The longer she waits to announce that she is not running for POTUS, the worst it is going to be for my family.

My mom ruined it for me, I won’t be able to get my grifting career off the ground because people will hate us.

I’m not thinking of an underage pregnancy as a career move because my family already milked that one.

I just might come out with a tell all book about my crooked family, that should get me some serious coins.

Just consider going into drug rehab, and THEN write a book about your journey so far. Maybe you could write a chapter on advice from Diane on how to stay out of prison. Thanks for sharing your insight. Malia

  7. Yea! I kept logging in to the Grapevine AMC 30 on Wednesday and Thursday to see if any of the show times indicated a “sold out” show. Nothing; and this was after TeamSarah sent out a hysterical plea for members to drag 25 other people to the theater with them.

Grapevine Texas is small, but an easy drive from Dallas/Arlington/Fort Worth. All together a population of 6.5 million people – I’m sure Steve Bannon was betting this location would be one of the most profitable markets. They were able to “sell out” one small theater, one show, on the opening night.

Ah, the schadenfreude is schadenfreu-delicious this weekend.

    Thanks for your follow-up, Malia!

    1. Miss Sunshine,
Thanks for bringing me up to date on the movie. Obviously it is a bomb and has been pulled in all 10 theaters where it started. AMC says that it is now at only two AMC theaters and the movie site itself only identifies two other theaters where it is playing. I assume it will be out of those as fast or faster than it was out of the first ten. Malia

  8. Malia, where was the claim “The Undefeated” made $65,000,000.00? At C4P? I’d love to see the retorts to THAT absurd claim!!

I think there have been report that the film took in $65,000 its first weekend, and a total of about $101,000. However the movie evidently cost around $1,000,000 to make and that doesn’t include any advertising. The “take” is also the total taken in by the movie theater, not the amount that was paid to the maker of the film. If the overall ticket sales were between 100,000 and 2,00,000 then they lost a lot of money on the film!

  9. Oops, I should learn to read closer. Claims the film made $65,000, not $65,000,000. Though I’d be shocked if it even made that much!

  11. Sarah should have released this movie when she was doing the first book tour. Since the first book tour it has been a downward spiral for Palin.
