Re: Yes We Can, and Should Protect Women in our Homeland

Dear President Obama:

In the elections of 2008, and 2012, the majority of voters who voted for you were women. You rewarded our vote of confidence in you by passing the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act.  Women were thrilled when you appointed Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan to the United States Supreme Court.  While Congress struggles to pass the Violence Against Women Act, Shailey Tripp is one woman you can help right now.

In January of 2011 the National Enquirer published a story about Todd Palin and a prostitute by the name of Shailey Tripp.  Ms. Tripp took three lie detector tests before publication of that story which asserted that Todd Palin recruited Ms. Tripp into a life of prostitution. Todd Palin has never denied the assertions in that story.

The lawyer for the Palins, Mr. Tiemessen, asked the Anchorage Police Department to issue a “press release” , which was contrary to their own records, attempting to exculpate Todd Palin from this scandal. Dave Parker of the Anchorage Police Department issued the statement Mr. Tiemessen asked him to issue, in spite of the fact it was contrary to the actual records of the Anchorage Police Department.

Dave Parker gave a statement to the NY Daily News that there was not one “scintilla of evidence” connecting Todd Palin to Ms. Tripp.

Mr. Parker has now resigned from the Anchorage Police Department.

In February of 2012 Shailey Tripp published a book, Boys Will Be Boys, in which she provides explicit details about the way Todd Palin coerced her into a life of prostitution, how he exploited her desperate circumstances, descriptions of Mr. Palin’s anatomy, detailed descriptions of sexual encounters with Mr. Palin, and names of customers including members of the Anchorage Police Department.

In June of 2012 David Chaney, a Secret Service agent, was involved with Prostitutes in Colombia. He admitted his involvement.

Mr. Chaney was the agent assigned to guard Sarah Palin during the 2008 campaign.

Shailey Tripp has provided two verbal statements and one written statement to an investigator for Homeland Security, Merek Shaffer, confirming that Todd Palin introduced her to David Chaney while he was in Alaska, for the purpose of making sexual services available to David Chaney while on assignment in Alaska. Ms. Tripp has confirmed that David Chaney did come to her place of business and receive sexual services while on assignment in Alaska.

Mr. Chaney has resigned from the Secret Service.

In the summer of 2012 Mark Sullivan, the head of the Secret Service, testified before Congress that the Colombia event involving Secret Service agents and prostitutes was an isolated event, and denied that there was a “culture of corruption” within the Secret Service.

Because I had personally notified Homeland Security and members of the Senate subcommittee on Homeland Security of the alleged involvement of Todd Palin in providing a prostitute to service David Chaney while in Alaska I expected that something would be mentioned at this hearing, or at a minimum, questions would be asked. Nothing was asked during this hearing about the allegations regarding Todd Palin, David Chaney, and Shailey Tripp.

In June of 2012 I filed a Freedom of Information Act Request, asking for a copy of the statement taken of David Chaney regarding the assertions of Ms. Tripp.  The initial request was denied, indicating that the information requested was information of a “personal” nature. In July of 2012 I filed an appeal of that denial of FOIA Request No. 2012-133, asserting that there was an “overriding public interest” in obtaining a copy of David Chaney’s statement.  No decision has been made by Homeland Security. No explanation has been provided to justify the delay in responding to my request.

Mark Sullivan has resigned as the director of the Secret Service, effective February 23, 2013.

Sarah Palin has either resigned, or her contract with Fox News has not been renewed.

Human trafficking and coercion of women into lives of prostitution by predators is perhaps the most vile and offensive of crimes against women. You, as the President, and the women who voted for you are unable to prevent all abuse and violence against women. However our inability to help every woman is no excuse not to help one woman. Shailey Tripp had the courage to tell her story to a national publication, to write a book, and to give statements to Homeland Security. Yet our government has failed to respond to her cries for help. Instead law enforcement officials have ignored or denied her assertions, and when called upon to be accountable for their denials, they have simply resigned.

As Dave Parker, David Chaney, and Mark Sullivan receive retirement checks from the U.S. government and the State of Alaska, Shailey Tripp remains in hiding, fearful for her safety and that of her children. She is branded as a prostitute and a liar, while Todd Palin is making money as the star in the television reality show “Stars Earn Stripes.” Sarah Palin has an estimated net worth of $12 Milllion dollars. Shailey Tripp will never star in a television show or be worth millions of dollars. She does deserve, at a minimum, for the government to reveal the truth. If Todd Palin was her pimp, we owe it to Ms. Tripp, and to women who are victims of abuse everywhere in America, to support them when they are willing to come forward and tell their story. Women who are victimized, raped, and abused are often hesitant to tell their stories as they are fearful that people will not believe them. When we don’t believe them, and promote their abusers as heroes and celebrities, we become complicit in their abuse. By protecting these men, we encourage other men to abuse women, and discourage women from revealing the truth about their abusers.

Please instruct Homeland Security to produce the documents requested in my FOIA request # 2012-133, NOW.

President Obama, please help women across the country have the courage to speak out and say NO MORE! Please be the HOPE and CHANGE we thought you would be in November of 2008 when we believed in you.

Sincerely,

Malia Litman

  1. Now they’ve done it. Malia Litman did the correct thing and went through the proper channels as an American citizen and took her concerns to Homeland Security with no response from our government officials which left her no choice but to contact our president of the United States of America.

This request is not just from Malia Litman but from all Americans who want justice and answers.

Sooner or later, all Americans are going to start demanding answers and you and me demanding answers is just the beginning.

  2. Todd Palin how come you won’t speak out about these allegations?

Malia offered to tell your side of the story but it looks like you want to ignore the story hoping it would just be ignored and Americans will drop their quest for answers.

  3. Unfortunately, it’s unlikely to accomplish anything. If the President said or did anything directly about Sarah Palin she will simply crow over the “fact” that “he’s afraid of her” etc. She would LOVE to have him say anything, anything at all, about her. I suspect she’s extremely frustrated because he ignores her. He’s bound to be intelligent enough to know that. Why give her ammunition to rush to the media? She’s not worth much media attention these days, but that’ll change if she has anything that indicates the President is paying attention to her. He’ll be the hook for the news agencies, but she’ll get the attention.

    1. Ivyfree,
It probably won’t result in any change, but It occurs to me that he could simply tell Homeland security to produce the documents, and nothing further would need to be said!

I agree that Scarah would howl at the moon if the POTUS ever even acknowledged her pathetic, self-infatuated existence. But isn’t it just as likely that Batshit Barbie would show up on a right-wing media outlet and issue a screed about about how she has (once again) been “victimized” by the libruls? Don’t forget her entire trailer trash family. The Wicked Witch of Wasilla deserves the same non-response Donald Frump got just before the election. Nada.

  4. Book review for Boys Will Boys from Amazon.com

Todd Palin Exposed February 29, 2012 By Allison

In “Boys Will Be Boys” Shailey Tripp proves, with copies of documents and lists of names, that her arrest for prostitution and her introduction to that business had roots in the heart of a famous celebrity “family man.” One day after standing next to Sarah Palin as she was sworn in as Alaska’s first female governor, this “First Dude” was flirtatiously emailing with a young single mom, Shailey Tripp, and saying “You light up my life.” What transpired in the weeks, months and years (2006-2010) that followed did not light up her life in return. Guided by a powerful man into the darkness of selling sex, Ms. Tripp has set herself free and is telling her story. The truth will continue to set her free, and she honestly spills the agonizing, humiliating, and depressing details of life as Todd Palin’s commodity. Interstate sex trafficking is no joke. The names she names and emails she released prove this woman means business. In the current political climate of taking away women’s rights, Ms. Tripp should become an icon for having the courage to stand up and say “I’m not going to let men define who and what I am and what I do.” Once you read it, pass it on. This book belongs in libraries, homeless shelters, and women’s clinics where it can speak to those who find themselves enslaved by any unhealthy behaviors, limited by losses or disabilities, or injured by the cruelty of others, as the author once was.

  5. Sooner or later there will be a movie about pimp Todd Palin, former prostitute single mother Shailey Tripp and sex trafficking in Alaska and it won’t look good for the state officials of Alaska, Anchorage Police Dept, Homeland Security and our government when it is revealed that they tried to obstruct justice.

  6. Your letter gives Pres. Obama the opportunity to prove he was serious about the importance of a system of equal justice as he has stated on several occasions.

At this point, it appears to only take a threat of political backlash and embarrassment to our leaders and institutions to avoid accountability and justice.

  7. How about a new TV reality show called “Pimps Earn Bars.” Toad and his cellmate(s) could work through a whole series of madcap, high-spirited adventures in the greybar hotel. The show could play opposite “Jersey Shore” or “The Kardashians” for a head-to-head ratings battle. The series would run for 1 – 3, depending on good behavior.

  8. The use of prostitutes by government contractors and DOD employees is also a key point. We don’t want our government participating in the trafficking of women! Nor should taxpayer money be spent on contractors who traffick in men and women.

I think the executive branch would be very interested in knowing that the DOD is involved in trafficking–right here in the good old USA. Not in a foreign country, but right here, in view of politicians, law enforcement, etc.

  9. Well done, Malia.

President Obama has always referred to a quote from FDR. “Make me do it”. He wants us to make our voices heard about what we want from our government. It’s just like the little “fired up, ready to go” lady. One voice can change the world. If enough of us make our voices heard, our leaders will have no choice but to do what the people demand. That is the power of public opinion.

Thank you for helping give us a voice!

  10. I’d like to thank you too, Malia, for writing such a wonderful letter to our president. Let’s hope it will somehow bring some justice for Shailey and hold Todd Palin accountable.

  11. Keep the faith, and keep the pressure up. Across the Atlantic, the Italian government chased Herr Ratzinger out of the Papacy for molesting children. US media totally missed the true story behind the historic resignation. The Pope resigned a week after he was served with legal papers. I never thought I would see the day when Italy would finally go after the criminals running the Vatican and the Vatican Bank. Justice will catch up with pimp Palin and his grifter family. They made the mistake of going national with their circus act.

(Disclaimer: I was raised Catholic, with 16 years of Catholic education. I was never molested by a priest, but disciplined regularly by the nuns with anger issues.)

  12. “Todd P. has vouched for you, you come highly recommended.”

( What a great tourism slogan for visiting Alaska! )

“…..In Shailey’s memoir,  Todd and the author of the email above (whom she names) are exposed in their attempts to get Shailey to go big time, to sign a contract with them – a contract with a minimum starting salary of $80,000 and bonuses that would take it into six figures. Applicants for the position get interviewed in hotel rooms because “of the nature of the interview,” and the interviewer tells Shailey (his potential new hire) that the other reason for using the hotel room is to “make sure I am not talking to law enforcement.” (I guess if law enforcement were wearing a wire it would be discovered when the clothes came off. ) That same “businessmen” asks for pictures and says “my girls will only work up to 3 days per week.”  The enticements end and the email culminates with “Todd P. has vouched for you, you come highly recommended.”  Shailey Tripp did not say no immediately, but when she did say it – said no to Todd Palin and his business partner –  she received the threatening email above. I would imagine that wasn’t the only threat she received. Maybe she received many. There’s some stuff Shay is saving for another time, and certainly I don’t know. What I do know is that the one email above would convince me to leave Alaska. No one should live like that – looking over your shoulder for Todd Palin or one of his thugs….”
