On Monday Glenn Beck stated on his radio show that Rick Santorum could be “the next George Washington“. Not only is such a statement insulting to Washington’s legacy, it isn’t even based in reality. George Washington successfully fought for America’s independence, presided over the Constitutional Convention that drafted our Constitution, established precedents that still exist over two centuries after his death and above all, was a man who could have had a crown, but refused it to save a burgeoning country. What has Santorum done? He has equated homosexuality with incest and bestiality, stated that the Supreme Court should prohibit consenting adults from engaging in homosexual acts, and wants to repeal all federal funding for contraception, because as he stated, sex should be “procreative“. Not even hair powder and cow teeth could make Santorum anything remotely like George Washington.
Section 501 (c) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code allows certain types of organizations to enjoy tax-free status. The specific provisions explain that the organization:
“…must be organized and operated exclusively for exempt purposes…and none of its earnings may inure to any private shareholder or individual. In addition, it may not be an action organization, i.e. it may not attempt to influence legislation as a substantial part of its activities and it may not participate in any campaign activity for or against political candidates.”
In 2008 the IRS created a Political Activities Compliance Initiative (PACI) which sought to remind 501(c) (3) organizations about the federal ban on political activity.
Sarah Palin has appeared across the country giving speeches and charging “charitable organizations” $100,000 per speech. While those charitable organizations probably felt her fees were excessive, the total cost will likely be far in excess of the speaking fees. Because Palin interjected politics into her speeches, her speech alone should result in denial or revocation of tax-exempt status.
The IRS explains it this way:
“Under the Internal Revenue Code, all section 501 (c) (3) organizations are absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office…Violating this prohibition may result in denial or revocation of tax-exempt status…”
Palin has established herself as a speaker for pro-life organizations and those geared toward providing assistance for special needs kids. Palin usually insists that the speeches not be recorded. However there has been recordation and reporting of many of her comments. The following two examples are subject to easy documentation.
- Speech in Waco at the Care Net Event
Sarah Palin appeared in Waco Texas at a meeting of Care Net on September 14, 2010, before the 2010 elections. Care Net’s mission is to:
“… (help women with) accurate information, compassionate care and practical support. Accurate information begins with Care Net’s medical director, who discusses options regarding the pregnancy and the risks and procedures of each option”
Money raised from the event was dedicated to the building of a facility to be located in Waco to provide support for women who are pregnant and considering abortion.
Palin speech from that event is posted on YouTube. Palin’s own words justify the revocation of the 501 (c) (3) status of Care Net because of the politically charged nature of many of her comments. Here are specifics:
From the first third of the speech:
Palin specifically made reference to:
- Glenn Beck and the Restoring Honor Rally
- Ronald Reagan
- Shooting caribou
- We eat so we hunt
From the second third of the speech:
Palin specifically made reference to:
- Pro-women groups
- Politicians would erode a culture of life
- Obamacare,
- It is essential to elect a Congress in 2010 to undo the damage of Obamacare
- Corrupt deals and a trail of broken promises and unfunded “band-aid of Obamacare”
From the third part of the speech:
Palin specifically made reference to:
- We will remember politicians that promised to hold firm against federal funding of abortion and caved at the last minute in exchange for a non-binding Presidential order.
- President Obama is the most “pro-abortion President to occupy the White House.” We have to change it.
- The government should work for us…we don’t retreat, we reload.
- Casting votes is how we can reload.
- Republicans passed a law in the House to ensure that there will be no taxpayer funded abortions.
2. Speech at the Exceptional Foundation in Alabama
Recently Palin gave a speech to the Exceptional Foundation in Alabama, a new “charitable” organization. The Exceptional Foundation is an organization whose stated purpose is to provide support for special needs children and adults. In a previous post I have explained the many problems with the Exceptional Foundation and its failure to obtain 501 (c) (3) status before the Palin speech.
However given the political nature of the Palin speech, the Exceptional Foundation should never be approved for charitable status. The local newspaper reported that the following things were included in her speech:
“Palin on Politics
Much of Palin’s remarks veered into politics, particularly during a question-and-answer session following her keynote address. She responded to the foundation’s prepared questions on various issues, most of which dealt with her views on federal government and current affairs. No media outlets were allowed to speak to Palin, and these were the only questions anyone could ask her.
Some of her comments, as expressed directly from the newspaper were as follows:
- She commended President Barack Obama’s order and the Navy Seals’ actions for bringing Osama bin Laden to justice, and credited “the groundwork laid by (former President George W.) Bush.” However, she supported the idea of proving the al-Qaida founder and 9/11 mastermind is truly dead, if only to quell the naysayers, “conspiracy theorists — especially Arab nations — who don’t believe that we won,” she said. “Showing the photos, to me, allows us to say, ‘You mess with the United States military — we gotcha.”
- On foreign relations when it comes to terrorism, Palin said, “We win; you lose, in the words of Ronald Reagan all those years ago.”
- In fact, one of the threads throughout Tuesday’s dinner were quotations from the 40th U.S. president, namely several references to his “Shining City on a Hill” speech that stressed American exceptionalism.
- The Tea Party movement — which she described as “not obsessively partisan; full of common sense” — inspires her, as does Abraham Lincoln.
- She picks her battles when the media attack her. Though erroneous media reports irk her and require her rebuttal, tabloid “potshots” — such as rumors of infidelity in her marriage — don’t faze her. Tending to Trig’s needs “taught us that that nonsense … may seem important to other people but at the end of the day, none of that stuff amounts to a hill of beans in our world,” she said.
Palin also echoed recurring themes in her other public appearances across the country including:
- The negative effect she believes the federal government’s “uncontrollable” $14 trillion debt will have on future generations.
- That she believes the U.S. needs to “drill baby, drill” domestically for oil production.
- That she still believes the Obama administration’s 2010 health-care reform — which she termed “Obamacare” — was “rammed down our throats” and will result in health rationing “death panels” — two words that drew heavy criticism when she mentioned them on her Facebook page in 2009.”
As of this morning the Exceptional Foundation is still not listed as being a 501 (c) (3) organization.
Sarah Palin, through her political rhetoric, rather than her charitable spirit, has compromised the tax-exempt status of these two organizations. Perhaps these organizations should ask for a refund for their $100,000 fees paid to Palin, if they explained to her that the speech should not be political in nature.

UPDATED INFORMATION
Bob Callahan Sr. is listed as “Chairman of the Board” for the Exceptional Foundation. His number is listed as 251-928-1559. I called this number this morning, and the woman who answered the phone answered by saying “Callahan and Associates.” I explained that I was trying to determine if tax exempt status had been granted for the Exceptional Foundation, and was told that only Melanie could answer that question, and she was out of the office today. In going to the Exceptional Foundation web site, under the tab entitled “contact us” you are referred to a screen that references Bob Callahan Sr. and the only web site mentioned is that of Callahan and Associates at http://callhanandassociates.com. When you click on that web site you see a lot of information about Callahan and Associates, but noting about the Exceptional Foundation. I wonder if this is what the IRS meant when they referred to an individual who benefits financially from the organization? If so that would be an additional reason that the “Exceptional Foundation” would not qualify for tax-exempt status.
Webster’s Dictionary needs to add one illustration to the next edition. Next to the word “liar” they should have this picture:
Palin lies about everything. She lies about hunting. She lies about speaking fees. She lies on national television. Steve Schmidt confirmed that she lies, even about Todd’s membership in the Alaskan Independent Party. She even lies about things that may not be in the best interest of Alaskans, but in her interest politically.
She lied about the findings in the Trooper Gate matter, saying :
“I’m very, very pleased to be cleared of any legal wrongdoing, any hint of any kind of unethical activity there. Very pleased to be cleared of any of that.”
–Sarah Palin, , October 11, 2008.
The Branchflower report concluded that Palin “knowingly permitted a situation to continue where impermissible pressure was placed on several subordinates in order to advance a personal agenda, to wit: to get Trooper Michael Wooten fired.” It adds that she and her husband Todd attempted “to get Trooper Wooten fired for personal family related reasons.” Subordinates were placed in the situation where they had to choose whether to “please a superior or run the risk of facing that superior’s displeasure,” a clear conflict of interest.
She distinguished herself by receiving the award for telling the “biggest lie of the year” for 2009 for fabricating the existence of “death panels.”
In spite of the many outrageous lies Palin has told, she has exceeded even my expectations. Sarah Palin, speaking of the killing of Osama bin Laden, thanked George Bush for “having made the right calls to set up this victory.”
At a time when the entire country is celebrating the death of the world’s most wanted terrorist, and for the first time in several years, the country is united in celebration of American’s accomplishment, Palin is unable to simply say “thank you “ to our President. Rush Limbaugh said “thank you” to our Commander in Chief, Barack Obama. Glenn Beck said that Obama…”did create the condition to allow Osama bin Laden to be killed, and he deserves respect for that and our thanks.”
If Palin had simply been unable to thank President Obama, we wouldn’t have been surprised. However to credit George Bush for setting up this victory is offensive. It is unforgivable. Remember George Bush’s statements about bin Laden:
“The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden. It is our number one priority and we will not rest until we find him.”
- G.W. Bush, 9/13/01
“I want justice…There’s an old poster out West, as I recall, that said, ‘Wanted: Dead or Alive,’”
- G.W. Bush, 9/17/01, UPI
“…Secondly, he is not escaping us. This is a guy, who, three months ago, was in control of a county [sic]. Now he’s maybe in control of a cave. He’s on the run. Listen, a while ago I said to the American people, our objective is more than bin Laden. But one of the things for certain is we’re going to get him running and keep him running, and bring him to justice. And that’s what’s happening. He’s on the run, if he’s running at all. So we don’t know whether he’s in cave with the door shut, or a cave with the door open — we just don’t know….”
- Bush, in remarks in a Press Availablity with the Press Travel Pool,
The Prairie Chapel Ranch, Crawford TX, 12/28/01, as reported on
official White House site
“I don’t know where bin Laden is. I have no idea and really don’t care. It’s not that important. It’s not our priority.”
- G.W. Bush, 3/13/02
“I am truly not that concerned about him.”
- G.W. Bush, repsonding to a question about bin Laden’s whereabouts,
3/13/02 (The New American, 4/8/02)
George Bush is the President who took us to war in Iraq by justifying it as an effort to find WMDs. When WMDs were not found, Bush explained that:
On October 29, 2003, George Bush declared “Mission Accomplished” in Iraq.
Seven years later we are still involved in Iraq. Consider the “cost” of that war:
Soldiers killed 4,444
Soldiers Seriously Wounded 32,051
U.S. SPENDING IN IRAQ-$900 Billion dollars
Lost & Unaccounted for in Iraq – $9 billion of US taxpayers’ money and $549.7 milion in spare parts shipped in 2004 to US contractors. Also, per ABC News, 190,000 guns, including 110,000 AK-47 rifles.
Missing – $1 billion in tractor trailers, tank recovery vehicles, machine guns, rocket-propelled grenades and other equipment and services provided to the Iraqi security forces. (Per CBS News on Dec 6, 2007.)
Mismanaged & Wasted in Iraq – $10 billion, per Feb 2007 Congressional hearings
Halliburton Overcharges Classified by the Pentagon as Unreasonable and Unsupported – $1.4 billion
Amount paid to KBR, a former Halliburton division, to supply U.S. military in Iraq with food, fuel, housing and other items – $20 billion
Cost of deploying one U.S. soldier for one year in Iraq – $390,000 (Congressional Research Service)
TROOPS IN IRAQ
Troops in Iraq – Total 47,000 U.S. troops. All other nations have withdrawn their troops.
For Sarah Palin to give credit to George Bush for the mission directed by Barack Obama that resulted in the killing of Osama bin Laden is outrageous! She should never be forgiven by even her most ardent supporters for this lie. She is a plague on this country.
Glenn Beck is a “lying sack of dog mess.”
Sarah Palin has been credited with telling the biggest lie of 2009 when she suggested that Trig would be evaluated by the President’s “Death Panels.” Fortunately “numbers” are not subject to “misreporting.” They are what they are. The “numbers” that reflect the popularity of Beck and Palin, and their concurrent decline, convey a consistent story.
Palin’s poll numbers have been in a steep decline, and are currently the lowest ever. In March of 2011 a Washington Post/ABC poll showed that only 58% of Republicans and GOP-leaning independents, think highly of Palin. This represents a drop of 30% from her favorability ratings during the 2008 campaign of 88%. Palin’s “unfavorable” numbers are also illustrative of her decline in popularity, with 37 % of all Republicans and GOP-leaning independents now holding a negative view of her. During the same period Glenn Beck’s favor-ability ratings and viewer-ship suffered a dramatic decline. In 2009 at least 20 advertisers pulled their ads from Glenn Beck’s Fox News program, after the right-wing host denounced President Obama, as a “racist” who “has a deep-seated hatred for white people.” The advertisers dropping their ads from Beck’s show, include the nation’s largest retailer, Wal-Mart, ConAgra, GEICO, Lawyers.com, Men’s Wearhouse, Procter & Gamble, Progressive Insurance, RadioShack, Roche, SC Johnson, Sanofi-Aventis, Sargento, State Farm Insurance, Allergan, Ally Bank, Best Buy, Broadview Security, CVS, Re-Bath and Travelocity.
Beck’s loss of advertisers was only the beginning of his problems. His ratings and reputation have been in free fall. His show has lost more than one million viewers over the course of the past year, falling from an average of 2.9 million in January 2010 to 1.8 million in January 2011. He now ranks fifth among Fox’s six weekday talk hosts. “It’s hard to gain a million viewers,” says Eric Boehlert, who follows Beck’s shows for the liberal media watchdog group Media Matters, “but it’s really hard to lose a million viewers.” By 2011 over 300 companies, including Proctor & Gamble, UPS, and Coca-Cola had stopped all advertising on Beck’s show.
Hence, it would come as no surprise to learn that Beck and Fox have announced the end of Beck’s show. The numbers don’t lie. But the numbers don’t tell us WHY Beck lost popularity. Consider the possibility that Beck’s decline in popularity was a direct result of his relationship to Sarah Palin. Remember just how tight Beck and Palin have been over the last two years:
1. Palin wrote about Beck in Time Magazine’s article identifying the 100 “most influential people.” Palin said:
“Who’d have thought a history buff with a quirky sense of humor and a chalkboard could make for such riveting television?”
With words such as “amazing” and “patriotic,” she writes Beck “inspires others to learn and respect our nation’s history.
2. Beck called Palin “One Hot Grandma.
3. Beck appeared with Palin in Alaska for a rally on Sept. 11. Palin introduced Beck and explained “He could be anywhere on the Earth today, and he chose Alaska!” Palin sat next to Beck for a three-hour show that resembled a tent revival more than a political forum.
4. Beck was given the opportunity to conduct the first televised interview of Palin after the 2008 election. In the hour long interview, with the Statute of Liberty in the background, Beck shed tears as he said: “We had something in common, and I called her up because I just was moved by the way she reacted to the birth of her child. She was real. I for once didn’t feel so alone. I didn’t feel surrounded by others, and neither did she. Her approval rating as governor at the time was about 90 percent. This is before the media circus, before all the political bull-crap. Sarah Palin was just a mom of five doing a job that needed to be done. She was my kind of leader.”
5. Beck and Palin were so tight that there was even a suggestion that they might be on the same ticket in 2012.
6. Beck and Palin were aligned at the Restoring Honor Rally.
7. Beck and Palin teamed up in Tulsa Oklahoma and Kansas City for the “Taking Our Country Back” rallies. If the rallies had been successful 10 more rallies were contemplated. I guess they weren’t “successful.”
Thus, it is incontrovertible that Beck aligned himself with Palin. Conservatives, like George Bush, who felt Palin was “unfit” would lose respect for Beck as they lost respect for Palin. It would be hard for Beck to pretend that he didn’t notice as Palin demonstrated her total lack of understanding of our “North Korean Allies” on his show. Even those conservatives who supported Palin might have taken offense by Beck’s apparent use of Palin to boost his ratings and popularity. When Beck exclaimed “bull crap”as Palin identified “all of them” as her favorite founding father in his interview in Jan. of 2010, Beck displayed his lack of respect for Sarah Palin.
Beck and Roger Ailes of Fox have announced that Beck will be leaving his show later this year. Mr. Ailes himself has previously indicated his displeasure with Palin. He told her to “Lie low,” with regard to the Gabrielle Giffords shooting. “There’s no need to inject yourself into the story.” Palin received the same advice from her lawyer and other confidantes. Of course, she didn’t follow that advice. Ailes was not happy.
Now Glenn Beck is trying hard to distance himself from Palin. He has said that he doesn’t see Palin running for president and that “ she has done some damage to her political brand.” “Sarah Palin, I don’t think, wants to run for president.” Beck went on to explain that Palin “ made a mistake by selling her personal story in her first book after leaving the governor’s office, rather than demonstrating some policy credentials. She should have come out with that first book, and it should have been deep policy.” “It should have shown that, yes, she knows where Russia is. She didn’t help herself by doing some things to shore herself up.” Beck has gone so far as to actually endorse Michele Bachmann.
Beck has reacted to his dismissal from Fox quickly by attempting to distance himself from Palin. It certainly appears that he attributes his loss of popularity to his alignment with Sarah Palin. If his immediate efforts to distance himself from Palin don’t work, he may have to resort to the Vicks.
With Glenn Beck ending his Fox News show this year due to dismal ratings, it is only fitting we commemorate this occasion with a look back at the craziest things uttered by Beck.
Pulp Fiction was a dark, offensive, and revealing film about one highly disturbing part of American life. While there are many memorable scenes that are seared into the memory of anyone who has seen the film, none is more memorable than Samuel Jackson’s speech he gave before assassinating each of his many victims. “Jules” repeated these memorable words immediately before shooting each of his victims:
“ The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to poison and destroy My brothers. And you will know My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee.
The irony was obvious. Jules cast himself as a “righteous” man and suggested that the people he was about to kill were the selfish and evil ones. Jules indicated that it was “charity and good will” that caused him to “help” his victims by killing them. Jules describes himself as his “brother’s keeper,” invoking religious images, and the finder of the lost, because he finds people and kills them. When Jules says “My name is the Lord when I lay My vengeance upon thee” he is indicating that he is himself God-like, and thus the violence that he inflicts is the vengeance of God, not a mere mortal.
Until today I would have described Glenn Beck as an evil liar who earns millions of dollars at the expense of the American public. Until today I would not have compared him to Jules in Pulp Fiction. However today the comparison is striking, and the irony is obvious.
In his show yesterday Glenn Beck suggested that the disaster in Japan was God’s “message being sent” to the Japanese people.
Listening to Beck was like listening to Jules, declaring that the tsunami and the disaster that followed were caused by God ‘s “vengeance and furious anger”.
For years people have listened as Beck has promoted anti-American-government sentiment. One year ago Mark Potok, the director of the Southern Poverty Law Center, a non-profit group that monitors militias, white supremacists groups and other extremists, highlighted the problem for anyone who would listen. He said:
“We’ve seen more threats and actual attacks in the past 18 months than we’ve seen at any given period over the past 15 years,”.
Mr Potok specifically blamed Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, and Lou Dobbs.
In March of 2010 ABC reported :
“A host of recent attacks on law enforcement, plots against President Obama, and a shooting at Washington, D.C.’s Holocaust museum are “signs of the times,”
“We’ve seen more threats and actual attacks in the past 18 months than we’ve seen at any given period over the past 15 years.”
During that same month Palin posted her infamous map of the United States with the crosshairs on it for Ms. Giffords.
As predicted, violence occurred in Arizona. Gabby Giffords and other innocent victims were shot. Instead of recognizing the need to tone down the rhetoric, Sarah Palin incited more hatred by her attempt to create the impression that she was a victim by using the “Blood Libel” image. In case there was any doubt about her knowledge of just how offensive that term might be, she talked with Roger Ailes, the CEO of Fox, about it. He specifically advised her not to do it. http://www.businessinsider.com/sarah-palin-roger-ailes-giffords-2011-3. Because Sarah Palin ignored his admonition, we are left with the clear indication that she intended to escalate the situation.
Time Magazine identified Beck as one of the World’s Most Influential People. Palin was chosen to write about him in the article. She described him as “amazing” and “patriotic.” She explained that Glenn Beck “inspires others to learn and respect our nation’s history.” If she had seen Pulp Fiction she could have used the memorable words of Jules to describe Beck. “Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper. “
The truth is that Glenn Beck, although worth millions, has a history of disfunction. His mother and his step-brother committed suicide. Beck himself admits that he was suicidal. He admits to being an alcoholic has a history of drug use. In July of 2010 he was diagnosed with macular dystrophy which could result in blindness. He has been divorced and remarried. One of his children has cerebral palsy. Beck has also been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Whoopie Goldberg’s description of Mr. Beck as a “Lying Sack of Dog Mess” was quite descriptive.
Like Palin, Beck has used his national presence to incite violence. Beck tells blatant lies, and promotes fear mongering.. In the course of this particular tirade he makes reference to Sarah Palin and the Lord. He said that a “Great and Powerful Evil” is coming.
Beck’s recent suggestion, that the horrific disaster facing the people of Japan was the result of God’s vengeance, was a clear example of just how far this deranged person will go to promote fear. His attack on the Japanese people is an example that his attempts to incite fear are not limited to “progressives” or “liberals” but to anyone who may not be a follower. Beck didn’t do the “Christian” thing to try to raise money for the victims. Instead he suggested that they deserved this tragedy. Instead of bringing attention to the lack of chaos and riots that have been associated with American disasters, Beck was silent. Japan has suffered the world’s seventh most powerful earthquake, a tsunami with a 23 foot wall of water, at least 10,000 fatalities, a nuclear power plant crisis requiring the evacuation of more than 180,000 nearby residents, and property and other losses amounting to as high as $35 billion. Millions of Japanese residents are struggling with dwindling supplies of food, water, and other necessities.Millions of Japanese were without drinking water or electricity Sunday, surviving on instant noodles and rice balls. Thousands of hungry survivors huddled in darkened emergency centers, cut off from rescuers. At least 1.4 million households have gone without water since the quake struck and some 2.5 million households were without electricity. Large areas of the countryside were surrounded by water and unreachable. At least 380,000 people have been evacuated to emergency shelters, many of them without power.
Fox News should be ashamed of Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, and Lou Dobbs. Glenn Beck’s Pulp-Fiction Moment is perhaps the most obvious example of the fact that Fox and Beck seem to intend to incite violence as it must be good for ratings. When Jules shot and killed people it was obvious to the audience that he was not actually doing God’s work. Beck’s behavior is worse because the danger he creates is not so obvious.
If union workers are detrimental, Glenn Beck is…
Hey, here’s a great proposal! Remove Beck from Fox News and remove Palin and Huckabee unless they each declare that they absolutely WILL NOT run for President. Maybe Fox News is too worried about the drop in their ratings to do the ethical thing. Maybe they have already paid Palin, Beck, and Huckabee, but haven’t gotten all the services for which they bargained.
Glen Beck made a memorable appearance on the View when he was called a “Lying Sack of Dog Mess” by Whoopie Goldberg.. In that interview Glenn Beck himself described himself as a “commentator.” He explained that he is NOT a “reporter” and is certainly not an “investigative reporter.” Barbara Walters expressed her amazement that he does not check any facts before doing his show. From this discussion we know that Glenn Beck does not even purport to report the “facts” but describes himself as a “commentator.”
Given the limited education and experience of Palin it is not surprising that Sarah Palin needs someone else to advise her about…everything. For example, she doesn’t know the difference between countries and continents. . She doesn’t understand the difference between North and South Korea. Thus if the Sarah PAC spends 60% of its donations on “consultants” we might think that was a good use of money. Sarah Palin needs all the help she can buy.
Bill O’Reilly of Fox News identified the problem. He explained that “Sarah Palin need to go to college,…world affairs college, …”
Unfortunately, either Palin’s advisors are incompetent, or Palin is not interested in learning. Instead she simply relies on Glenn Beck, a “commentator” to feed her information. When she speaks, or Tweets, or posts a comment on Facebook, her citations are to Glenn Beck. After more than two weeks without commenting on the recent scandal involving her husband, which she would presumably know something about, she didn’t say a word about that. Instead she attacked President Obama’s 2012 budget proposal. Here is what she posted on Twitter:
“ Here’s how minuscule the White House’s $775 million a year cuts are: less than 1/10 of 1% of this year’s budget deficit.”
Here is her comment on Facebook:
“ Truth Behind the White House’s Budget Spin
by Sarah Palin on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 12:12pm
Today the White House finally produced its proposal for the 2012 budget. Beware of the left’s attempt to sell this as “getting tough on the deficit,” because as an analysis from Americans for Tax Reform shows, the White House’s plans are more about raising taxes and growing more government than reducing budget shortfalls.
…. If you want to know how minuscule their proposed $775 million-a-year budget “cuts” really are, please look at this chart. The proposed cuts are so insignificant – less than 1/10 of 1% of this year’s $1.65 trillion budget deficit – that they are essentially invisible on the pie chart. That speaks volumes about today’s budget. Sarah Palin”
Both of the links on Palin’s facebook post are to a chart posted on The Blaze, Glenn Beck’s website, which were posted before the President’s budget proposal was even known. It uses an op-ed by White House Budget Director Jacob Lew to suggest that Mr. Obama was proposing to cut $775 million from the budget, and goes on to mock that amount as insignificant. If Palin had read the op-ed piece by Mr. Lew, she would have known that Mr. Lew was discussing a “small fraction of the scores of cuts” in the budget proposal. For example there are $2.5 billion in cuts to the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program alone. In fact the total proposed cuts add up to almost $75 BILLION ; not the reported $775 MILLION she reported.
Only one conclusion is possible. Sarah Palin is a fool!
After the scandal involving Todd, and Palin’s response to the Arizona shootings, we now have confirmation that Glenn Beck, the “lying sack of dog mess,” is a fraud. We knew his tears were insincere. Now we have proof. http://crooksandliars.com/david-neiwert/glenn-becks-sobbing-secrets-revealed
Maybe Beck and Palin need another rally to restore their honor.
