George Zimmerman, the defendant in the criminal proceeding arising from the murder of “Trayvon Martin, is threatening a lawsuit against NBC for defamation. The claim surrounds the editing of the 9-1-1 call Zimmerman made regarding seeing a threatening young man shortly before he murdered Trayvon Martin.
PJTV explains the editing of the video, claiming that NBC was guilty of “criminal neglicence.”
The suggestion is that the editing the clip of Zimmerman was misleading. The argument is that Zimmerman described Martin as “black” without being asked to identify his race. In fact the 9-1-1 dispatcher asked Martin to identify the race of the suspect. The amazing this is that identifying Martin as “black” is not why people viewed Zimmerman as racist. We concluded that Zimmerman was racist because:
1. He said “these ass-holes, they always get away”
2. He called Martin a “fucking coon.”
3. Zimmerman shot and killed an unarmed teenager who was simply walking home with Skittles and Ice Tea.
How and why would PJTV be so quick to condemn NBC for the editing of the tape? Perhaps another clip of the same three commentators suggesting that the President of the United States, who is black, was guilty of terrorism, provides a better understanding of their willingness to champion the cause of a bigot.?!

What happened to the interpretation of “goon?” What about the previous history of burglars escaping from the police? What about the idea that Martin was the agressor? Maybe this will come out in one of the trials.

There is no question in my mind that George Zimmerman profiled Trayvon Martin precisely because he was a black male teenager wearing a hoodie. He already had a history of doing such things as reporting a 7-year-old black kid and following a black man to his own house, so it’s a mystery to me why anyone would think he’s not a bigot. Besides, I love the way some folks talk about how one of Zimmerman’s ancestors was black, as if one’s ethnicity or any part of it exempts him or her from racist attitudes. It’s also well-known that in spite of the expunging of criminal behavior from his record, he has a history of being aggressive and confrontational while Trayvon Martin had no such record or reputation.
