Unfortunately, according to the U.S Weather Service, a hurricane is “a system with sustained winds of at least 34 metres per second (66 kn) or 74 miles per hour.” So according to the forecast it’s not legitimate – what do Romney and Akin have to say about that!

sallyinmi,
It might, but you could probably ask someone at one of the Strip Clubs in Tampa.

Pat Robertson would say it was “God’s judgement”, showing his displeasure, if it happened to a Dem convention.

MM,
Absolutely he would., but now they will just say that Democrats are somehow responsible….or maybe they’ll say it has nothing to do with them, it was all the abortionists or the homosexual people who inhabited Tampa before they got there!

Read Frank Cerabino here:
http://www.palmbeachpost.com/news/news/state-regional-govt-politics/cerabino-a-few-contingency-plans-for-the-gop-conve/nRJmp/
“It would send the wrong message if the Republican National Convention was aborted, even in cases where the life of the delegate was in jeopardy.”
“Don’t worry. This will most likely be a relatively weak Category 1 hurricane, not a very “legitimate” hurricane, to put in in U.S. Senate candidate Todd Akin terms.”
“The biggest concern will be storm surge, and we have already made contingency plans to hold back the water by using the enormous piles of remaindered books on the convention site. We have estimated that the available copies of Ann Coulter, Bill O’Reilly and Ayn Rand books alone can make a levy tall enough to withstand a moderate surge.”
“And if the book levy breaks, there’s always New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.”
“In the unlikely event you do find yourself injured in the storm, do not accept any help from the federal government.”
“So if Obama’s FEMA arrives, politely say, “No, I am waiting for a free-enterprise market solution to my gaping head wound.”

Barbara,
Maybe the GOP is really hoping for a direct hit, and subsequent death of many delegates, so that the GOP might benefit from their wills.?

While I would never wish a devastating hurricane on the people of Tampa, part of me would like to know that the GOP convention-goers had to spend three days or so in a convention building with no power, inadequate food, water and restroom facilities. That would be some justice for what George W. Bush allowed to happen in New Orleans in 2005.

Beaglemom,
I think that’s called poetic justice!
