The big story yesterday was something stupid Joe O’Biden said.
Biden explained that if the GOP’s proposal of elimination of federal regulations on Wall Street should pass, the result would be tantamount to “unchaining” Wall Street. He then went on to say that it would “put y’all back in chains.” That remark was stupid. Sarah Palin’s comment on that stupid remark was even more stupid. Sarah Palin, the one so disrespected by Republicans that she hasn’t been invited to speak at the RNC, deemed herself the appropriate person to tell President Obama who he should pick as his new Vice Presidential running mate, Hillary Clinton.
While I could write for pages about that remark, Jon Stewart did a masterful job of expressing my thoughts. He explains that either 1) Not even Sarah Palin believes she is a Prominent Republican Anymore, or 2) She is the Luckiest Woman in America because she can no longer hear herself speak.

Biden’s remark was, of course, widely publicized. It reminded me of Obama’s “lipstick on a pig” remark. Much read into it that was never intended. We’ll hear more of these, and thanks to the independence of the PACs they will be the “important” issues of the campaign.

The Biden comment about “chains” was a nod to Patrick Henry’s “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” speech. Google it, and read the last three sentences – and then you’ll understand what, where and why Biden said what he said.

I’m sad.
Most of America thinks Sarah is a joke.
Now the GOP has gotten tired of her.
Who is next?
FOX?

Somewhere today I read a comment about the “chains” reference. What Biden said is true and Patrick Henry in his famous “give me liberty . . . ” speech referenced the colonists’ being in chains and enslaved by the mother country. Not every metaphorical reference to “chains” means enslaving African Americans although what the GOP wants to do would set everyone, not only African Americans, on the road to enslavement.
The GOP wants to discredit Vice President Biden because they know that what he is saying is the truth and they do not handle truth very well.

Beaglemom,
I understood what he was saying, and although I know why people are sensitive, I didn’t feel he was in any way disparaging Blacks.
