It’s not just that he’s over his head. Mitt Romney is in the “deep end” of the pool and he’s drowning. A new ABC-Washington Post poll is out today indicating Romney’s UNFAVORABILITY ratings surpasses his FAVORABILITY ratings by 9%. That is to say that 49% of people polled view him UNFAVORABLY and only 40% of people view him favorably. The amazing thing is that he has been “underwater in 10 consecutive polls this year.
In contrast, President Obama has a 53% favorability rating, and only a 47% unfavorable rating. Among independents Obama’s favorability rating is now 16 points higher than Romney’s.
There are many reasons to explain the decline in the favorability numbers. The real question is, is there any way Romney can reverse this trend. Mitt is hoping that if he could persuade Seamus, to give him an endorsement, he might be able to turn things around.

Romney is sinking… for good reason. He’s not presidential material, and the world has brought that to the attention of the US people… despite the media’s agenda. Obama is likely rising because people are no longer buying into Romney… In my opinion its a product of minimizing risk.
However, Can I ask why no one wants acknowledge Dr.Paul? Why does the media disregard the dozens of states in which cacuses have been ‘inconsistent’ with vote counting with regards to Mr. Paul? Or that the RNC is desperate to restrict him from speaking in Tampa, and are attempting to find loop holes in the rules to do so?
I have an idea why… because they’re is scared of him. They are intimidated by the fire that he stirs in people… people are once again actually deeply interest in our goverment, unfortunately, more so out of concern than anything else.
Now the people are waking up, they want answers, they want real change, and they want their country back. And, the system is scared because of this.
Romeny… hes weak and untrustworthy.
Obama… he’s lied to our face and sustaintially increased debt
Paul… he’s got balls. America needs a man like that.

BamBam,
I think anything is possible. If Romney continues to decline in the polls, I can imagine something totally unexpected happening at the RNC, and it could involve Dr. Paul.

Is Mittens desperate enough to reach out to Sarah Palin? Somebody send him a copy of Game Change. Chaney was correct that it was the process of vetting or rather not vetting that put an totally unqualified Sarah on the ticket. That this totally unqualified wannabe celebrity pundant (sic) is still in the news is a total mystery to me.

sunnyskies,
I predict that if his popularity keeps going down, he will do something desperate!

These 2 tax lawyers have written 2 very interesting articles about Romney and his taxes and a tax shelter he promoted for Marriott – that was disallowed by the IRS. The opinion piece on cnn about the tax shelters is at:
http://www.cnn.com/2012/08/08/opinion/canellos-kleinbard-romney-taxes/index.html?hpt=hp_c1
and the opinion piece about his refusal to release earlier tax returns than 2011 is at:
http://www.cnn.com/2012/07/18/opinion/kleinbard-canellos-romney-tax/index.html
Frankly, I hope he does sink like a stone. It’s interesting that his favorability ratings are sinking so close to the Republican convention.

It seems like every day there is a new scandal or unflattering story about Mitty. He should be scared Mittless, he brought it on by not listening to what the American people had to say. Every good thing he may have done as Gov., he has flip flopped and now endorses the opposite.
Wimpy, wimpy, wimpy.

vegaslib,
It seems like he tries to please everyone, so nobody really knows what he’d do in office.

Malia, I was re-reading Vince Palamara’s blog. Hadn’t seen this. I will send you link in case you didn’t see it. Not anything much but interesting. O/T
to2012 says: “Yep.
Well, the Secret Service is very much a Republican club from what I learned. It came to my attention that they didn’t like it when Democrats were in the White House. I’ve been left with the residual impression that a lot of wagon circling transpires within the ranks, from time to time, in support of prevailing attitudes favoring certain political viewpoints.
Just an observation.”

Malia: Have you seen the article about the tie between Bain’s start up and the Salvadoran death squads? That question may sound melodramatic but if you check out Huff. Post or Kos, you’ll see it’s impeccably documented. This guy is even worse news than his greatest detractors realize.

I heard about that and I bet it would get more attention had his spokesperson not stuck another foot in the Romney campaigns mouth!
But tomorrow is another day and probably another screw up.
