Homeland Security has responded to my FOIA request, and asked me to provide a release from Todd Palin and David Cheney regarding the documents previously requested. Homeland Security has not yet reported that any documents exist, but only that these releases are required. Thus I have sent this letter today by U.S. Mail, and by e-mail.

Re:Release Requested From Todd Palin Regarding Statements Made to Homeland Security or the Secret Service by David Chaney
Dear Mr. Tiemessen,
Dave Parker of the Anchorage Police Department indicated to me that you requested that the Anchorage Police Department issue a press release to the National Enquirer regarding the Nation Enquirer’s story about Todd Palin and Shailey Tripp. That was February of 2011, so I am not clear whether you are still representing Sarah and Todd Palin. I direct this letter to you as I assume you are still representing Todd Palin in the matter of Shailey Tripp. If I am incorrect in that assumption, please notify me if there is another attorney to whom I should direct this correspondence, or if I should direct it to Todd Palin personally.
In February of 2011 you requested that the Anchorage Police issue a press release to the National Enquirer stating that there was not “one scintilla” of evidence implicating Todd Palin in the running of the House of Prostitution in which Shailey Tripp worked. Of course you knew there was a “scintilla” of evidence, because Shailey Tripp’s own statement would be some evidence that Todd Palin had recruited Ms. Tripp into a life of prostitution. There was also evidence in the Anchorage Police records indicating that a business owner, William Fortier, who had an office in the same building, reported that he had seen Todd come and go from the office. I would consider that more than a “scintilla” of evidence.
Todd Palin has never publically denied the allegations that he was Shailey Tripp’s pimp. I personally did what Sarah Palin suggested and asked Todd if “he’d been hanging out with hookers? ” Again no response was forthcoming. Now Shailey Tripp has written a book, Boys Will Be Boys, where she has told the story of Todd Palin’s recruitment of her into a life of prostitution, and the fact that Todd Palin worked as her Pimp. She even provided graphic details about Todd’s anatomy that would not normally be public information. To my surprise, Sarah, Todd, and the Anchorage Police Department have not said a word about the book. To my knowledge they have not denied any of the statements in the book, or threatened a lawsuit against Ms. Tripp for defamation.
After the publicity surrounding the Secret Service scandal in Colombia, a picture of David Chaney and Sarah Palin surfaced.
It is my understanding that upon seeing that picture, Shailey Tripp remembered that Todd Palin had introduced her to Mr. Chaney for the purpose of ensuring that Mr. Chaney knew who to contact in Alaska if he ever wanted to take advantage of the services of a prostitute, while he was on assignment in Alaska while guarding Sarah Palin during the 2008 campaign. I personally put Ms. Tripp in touch with Mr. Merek Schaefer, an Assistant Inspector of the Inspection Division of the Secret Service. It is my understanding that Ms. Tripp gave Mr. Schaefer two verbal statements and one written statement regarding Todd Palin’s introduction of Mr. Chaney to her, and her subsequent service provided to Mr. Chaney. Although I was never told this by Mr. Schaefer, it was my impression from him that the Secret Service and/or Homeland Security would be taking a statement from Mr. Chaney to either confirm or deny the account of Ms. Tripp.
I have sent a Freedom of Information Act request to the office of Homeland Security regarding any statement that would have been given by David Chaney regarding his introduction to Shailey Tripp by Todd Palin. Surely you can appreciate the importance of finding out the truth regarding these allegations about Todd Palin. As he travels around the country with his wife, endorsing and campaigning for Senate candidates, the audience would certainly be interested in knowing if Mr. Palin had worked as a pimp. I suspect that the audience would receive his statements about political candidates a little differently if it was revealed that he was a pimp instead of a Star Earning Stripes. Conversely, if Todd Palin was never Shailey Tripp’s pimp, and if the story of his introduction of David Chaney to Shailey Tripp is not true, I would assume Todd Palin would like to be exonerated, and the truth revealed.
Homeland Security has not revealed if documents exist regarding an interview with David Chaney and Todd Palin. However if such documents do exist, Homeland Security has asked me to obtain a notarized release from Todd Palin and David Chaney. I have enclosed a copy of the letter from Homeland Security listing the documents requested, and a release to have Todd sign and return. If Todd signs the release and you return it to me within two weeks from the date of this letter, I represent and promise that I will publish on my blog, at malialitman.wordpress.com, any documents that might be provided by Homeland Security regarding the allegations made by Shailey Tripp and which were provided as a result of the release given by Todd Palin. If David Chaney gave Homeland Security a statement, and if he denied the facts reported by Shailey Tripp, Mr. Chaney’s denial would go a long way towards vindicating Todd Palin from this scandal. If Mr. Palin refuses to sign the release, we can only assume that Shailey Tripp’s account is accurate, that David Chaney confirmed her story, and that the reason Todd Palin hasn’t publically denied the allegations of Ms. Tripp, is that they are true.
Sarah Palin has repeatedly suggested that bloggers and the media tell lies or a “false narrative.” I seek the truth, and do not want to erroneously make reference to Todd Palin as a pimp, unless it is true. By providing the release requested, we have an opportunity to reveal the truth. I hope you and Todd Palin are interested in seeking the truth.
I look forward to your prompt response.
Sincerely,
Malia Litman

I don’t get it. Isn’t this just another brick wall. Is this standard for a FOIA request?

malialitman
pvaz,
It may be, but if Todd doesn’t agree to release the information, it will be pretty clear why. Also, Homeland hasn’t said what they have and they haven’t actually denied my request yet. I am hopeful that even if Todd doesn’t produce the release that Homeland will find a strong public interest in releasing the information, and will still do it.

sjk,
I don’t expect that any release will be forthcoming, but if not we will know why not.

Neither APD, the Palins, nor those who represent them have any respect for the truth. It wouldn’t surprise me if Tiemessen tried to file a protective order against you because of your search for the truth. everyone is aware that the truth is not popular in Alaskan government circles.

alan,
If he tries to get a protective order I bet I’d be entitled to some discovery in that matter, and he wouldn’t want that!

alan,
I would think that it would be relevant to a protective order if the allegations were true, and what fun to get to ask Todd Palin questions in a deposition.!!!

Tom,
Thanks for your support. I have learned that nothing is ever easy when it comes to the government, but just never expecting people to do the right thing helps.

Dealing with the government has got to be easier than dealing with the Palins…any of ‘em…all of ‘em!!!

Sometimes I think I’m dealing the government and the Palins all at the same time.

Wow Thank you for working so very hard on this malia. I kinda get a feeling its coming out soon. If the DNC has any info you can bet they will use it. If Todd denys? Whoa baby. More avenues open. How to trap pigs? There is more than one way?
August 7, 2012 at 3:15 pm

BLM,
People around the country should be demanding that this information come out! So many Republicans have said bad things about her and they would be so much better off to be rid of her once and for all.

I think your on track. Yes, it takes time. But look, as you stated before that pimp has not ever talked about it even though there are numerous sources and Ms. Tripp herself. So, at least we may get something. Thanks.
August 7, 2012 at 3:13 pm
malialitman
chel,
Homeland Security should be embarrassed if they don’t produce this evidence. who are they protecting? Pimps! Not average citizens who are persuaded by these unethical people to vote for another unethical person,

I’m only willing to be labeled “amazing” if I get the documents!

This is bullshit. And no, this is not standard for FOIA requests. They are mandated by law to provide this information, no “affidavit for permission” is needed. Total crap. Keep on ‘em, Malia.
August 7, 2012 at 4:36 pm
malialitman
soapydog,
It certainly looks like that to me, but it makes me wonder if this is just their way of seeing how badly you want the documents. I can’t imagine a greater matter of public interest! It is like asking a child molester for his permission to disclose the fact that he is because of his privacy rights.
August 7, 2012 at 4:43 pm
soapydog
I’ve made a few FOIA requests myself & one was the personnel file of a former coworker. And I sure as hell didn’t have to get “permission” to obtain it! I also work for the government and have been required to take training regarding this law. Sure, certain things can be redacted, but permission? Puleeeze!
August 7, 2012 at 3:37 pm
Balzafiar
Malia, did you forget to redact your address? I think it would be prudent.
August 7, 2012 at 4:34 pm
malialitman
Balzafiar,
I started to do that but the Palin bots already have it as a result of the publication of my letter to the Alaska AG that Timessen published on line. If I die a mysterious death, you’ll know who to ask questions of.
August 7, 2012 at 3:45 pm
Marie
I am not sure I understand why Todd Palin has to sign a release for FOIA request?? Do all parties named in FOIA requests have to sign a release for the information to be released?
August 7, 2012 at 4:33 pm
malialitman
Marie,
I still think that even if he doesn’t sign it, Homeland Security could decide it is in the “overriding public interest” to produce the documents even without the release. It’s just easier to get the documents if they sign the release

Thank you for your tireless efforts! I just cannot — for love or life — understand how it is these people are able to coast on all of the treachery they are commonly known to be involved. How is it that so few are willing to reveal the trut?. What do the Palins have in their arsenal that keeps everyone in check and all of their crimes and evil guarded? I think each word she utters is a lie, slander, or made-up-stuff! Her definition of Christian certainly does not hold true to Christ’s teachings.
Good luck to you in your labors and thank you for using your professional expertise for the true and greater good.

It will all be worthwhile if I can get these documents! It is just outrageous to me that our Department of Homeland Security might protect a criminal like Todd Palin!

curiouser
I’m not sure I totally understand this but it seems like a ‘damned-if-you-do-damned-if-you-don’t situation for Palin and Chaney, with a national news story in the works either way Thank you and congratulations, Malia!
August 7, 2012 at 4:25 pm
malialitman
Curiouser,
Assuming it is true, they are implicated either way. If it’s not true then Todd Palin should sign the release. I’ll be you a dollar that doesn’t happen. Of course Chaney could lie when giving his statement, but if I were his attorney, I’d be more concerned about possible perjury if he lied than disclosing the truth!
August 7, 2012 at 4:35 pm
curiouser
I hadn’t thought about possible perjury or whether there’d be an effort to investigate conflicting testimony. I hope you’re right about Chaney. I don’t think Todd would hesitate for a moment to perjure himself.
August 7, 2012 at 4:41 pm
malialitman
curiouser,
I would think the same thing about Todd, because he feels he is above the law. However Chaney has already lost his job, but I bet he is getting retirement benefits. If he commits perjury I’m not sure if it would affect his retirement.

Didn’t Ms Tripp have a little black book, emails, bank deposits? Didn’t she have staff that witnessed anything?

Remember Watergate went all the way to the top. It just takes one person to squeak, like Deep Throat to get the ball rolling. I am sure someone knows something and could use some bucks.

I doubt that Chaney will admit anything, and Todd Palin surely will not! Maybe Todd has paid for Chaney’s silence. Same goes for the APD.
August 8, 2012 at 11:25 am

carolnc,
Or…it doesn’t even have to be an actual payment. If Todd supplied them with prostitutes, then it could be simply fear of their indiscretions being exposed.
