More recently, on Good Friday no less, Rev. Terry Jones showed up in Dearborn, Michigan, and parked in front of the Mosque there to confront Muslims on their way to services. He also had a loaded gun in his car. He came all the way from Florida to prevent people from practicing their religion. Fortunately, Dearborn, Michigan, is a community where the large Muslim population has lived in harmony with everyone else for many, many years. In fact, along the highway where the mosque is located are large Greek Orthodox and Roman Catholic churches as well. About all it lacks is an LDS temple. The mayor of Dearborn made sure that the rev. was removed from in front of the mosque. But he got the press attention he wanted.
Unfortunately the ACLU decided that the First Amendment rights of the rev. were being impinged upon. I disagreed with their stance completely because 1) the rev. crossed state lines with his weapon to deprive people of their rights, and 2) the First Amendment also protects the rights of people to worship as they choose and those rights should supersede where the disrupting person has to cross state lines to accomplish his goals. Frankly I think the rev. must have broken multiple federal laws by coming armed to Dearborn, Michigan, from Florida with the sole purpose of inciting a riot. He had to have used telephones and the internet to assure that he would get the publicity that he sought. Because of the quick actions of the mayor and other Dearborn leaders and the common sense and decency of the Dearborn residents, there was no trouble.

Beaglemom,
Thanks for sharing this! I didn’t know about it!

A beer bust for 9/11? How about a church, and prayers, with donations going to a named charity (and monitored to prevent sticky fingers from skimming some off the top — because we know our Sarah and Glenn)?
Did anyone else notice the date was 9/11/2010? 2010! Is this a joke or just a sloppy mistake? It’s on the Palin flyer.
How low has the GOP sunk to permit any of this. It defies belief. Newt’s is even worse. There must be some trick ending to this.

anon,
I think the “trick” ending is that Newt and Sarah will go in debt and nobody will bail them out!

That would be GREAT! But I was thinking a trick ending like GOP explores the “how low can you go” concept, then switches out a shiny new candidate at the last minute, who looks even better because of the klown kar kandidates that have preceded him/her (yes, including Mitt. ESPECIALLY Mitt). A candidate that, like SP, was vetted completely adequately for GOP purposes (i.e., they knew all at the outset, as indeed bloggers like cajunboy did also), but not vetted by the MSM for voter info purposes.

Is this the same event mentioned in the video? It appears to have happned already OR am I reading something from an archive? I can’t readily find any mention of a 9/11 beerfest this year in AK: http://www.aesopsretreat.com/forum/index.php?topic=26903.0
