The name “Obama” is never mentioned in the Superbowl Commercial made by Clint Eastwood. There is no reference to any Republican. There is nothing negative about this commercial, but only an attempt to remind Americans that we are resilient, and that together we CAN make a difference. Of course the reference to “half time” would indicate that Obama is only “half” done with his time as President. The focus of the commercial is the auto industry, and its recovery. Clint never gives Obama credit, but talks about the resolve of the American people.
The message is: “This country can’t be knocked out in one punch,” Eastwood, said. “We get right back up again, and when we do, the world will hear the roar of our engines. It’s half time, America.”
Here is the commercial. No wonder Karl Rove and some other Republicans don’t like it.

The irony of the whole situation is that Chrysler probably used Clint Eastwood to make the ad non political and more like a movie or theater script or coach’s half time talk. The pudgy draft dodgers, like Rove and Cheney, idolized Eastwood and tried to imitate him. Now they’re crying because Clint hurt their feelings.
That commercial is an amazing piece of work, very motivational, trying to bring us together. And as usual the wealthy Republicans find a spin to try to keep us apart.

I thank God that President Obama cared enough about this country to do the Big Auto loans. When George Bush had the opportunity, during the ever-increasing oil price debacle, he shrugged it off. Then things continued to get worse for the auto companies.
No country as big as ours can afford to have no manufacturing base. President Obama understands that. Had the Big Three all folded, the domino effect would have been devastating and we might never have recovered as a country.
One of President Obama’s great qualities is that he thinks things through. That is why I trust him as I never trusted his predecessor.

Clint Eastwood made a lot of friends in Detroit when he made Gran Torino. And last year’s Chrysler’s commercial really made a lot of Detroiters and Michiganders feel GOOD. So at least a part of this commercial was a “Hey, let’s do this again,” especially since the auto industry bailout bashing has resumed.
Mr. Eastwood is to be commended for this commercial, IMO.

I can’t help wondering if the GOP whiners practice at being abysmally stupid. They are so bent on trying to make President Obama fail that they can’t even accept praise of positive occurrences during his administration, not even when the praise comes from the mouth of right-wing Clint Eastwood. This man is no fan of the president’s, but he is objective enough to say it just like it is. I can only wonder what he thinks of people who are usually his political allies, now politicizing his statements.

Yes we will get back up. But we have some work to do first. Get rid of obstructionist, palin, tea bags, career repos in house and senate, stop pacs, reform tax code just for starters. And Elect Obama 2012 and demand he listen and work for the middleclass.

I love all the comments, too. I’m a former Detroiter and Chrysler dependent (my father worked there for 40+ years) who now lives in Italy. In the past few weeks there has been a very similar 2-minute commercial on tv for Fiat. As you may know, Fiat was hanging by a thread and nearly brought down my new hometown of Turin but somehow it’s collaboration with Chrysler seems to have saved both companies. I don’t understand it myself, but I’m happy with the results and my point is that those ninny Republicans need to look further than the ends of their noses. These things effect the whole world! It’s not just them vs. President Obama and corporations around the world are going to make commercials to promote their product without checking in with them first.
