This isn’t really related to anything specific in this post, but a mere observation. Considering how open-minded “democrats” profess to be and how miserable they think their political adversaries are, they sure seem bitter and jealous in pretty much every statement I’ve read online from a “loudmouth liberal”. I’ve never seen people who assume more than the typical liberal (in my realm of experience) and I’ve NEVER heard remotely kind of words for anyone who doesn’t follow their strict code of living. And yes, it is quite strict considering we’re all different. You condemn people who choose a post-secondary education forgetting that some of the greatest innovators are dropouts and many millionaires are selfish described down home, good ol boys who couldn’t care less if people think they’re intellectually worthless.
Education means shit if you merely use it to ridicule and scoff at your fellow neighbor. Some of the most fundamentally ignorant people in this country have PhDs. Some of the most successful and brightest have no college degree. Life is what one makes of it.
It’s time to cease the ignorant personal attacks that typically stem from jealousy. You all know deep down you have no basis for your immature words. It takes self-control and sense. We cannot rightfully judge anyone. It doesn’t matter if you’re devout or not. You will never know another’s journey and never know who another person is, as they’re in the process of discovering that themselves – a process that doesn’t end until death.
Be the person you wish to see in the world. Right now, all I see when I read most of the comment here and elsewhere on the liberal parts of the internet is the spitting image of the qualities you accuse Sarah Palin of having.

DeeD,
I assure you I am in NO way jealous of Sarah Palin. I have been very blessed in my life, and feel I am in a very lucky position to write this blog every day, because not only do I not need to work outside the home for financial support of my family, but I also have MS and that limits what I can do. By writing this blog I have a chance to give voice to feelings about which I am passionate. I spent my life working hard to gain respect and to accomplish much as a professional woman, at a time when men thought that women couldn’t adequately compete in the court room with men. My record in trial over 12 years as an attorney proved to me, my clients, and the world that women could be just as effective…or more effective in the court room. When I gave up my career to devote myself to my three children once again I had to face the assumption by many that I was “just a mom” because I wasn’t smart enough to do anything else. It took courage to face that type of attitude every day as I watched my children thrive. I won’t tell you about all that my children have achieved because that is not what this blog is about, and I prefer to keep them out of my life as a blogger. I have had so many hateful comments, and even death threats for expressing my feelings, that I prefer to protect them.
Sarah Palin has done more to disparage women than any other single person in my life time. She is a disgrace to intelligent, professional women, and to dedicated mothers. I am one of the few women who is willing to speak up and say “NO” she doesn’t represent me!
While I worked on the Obama campaign in 2008, I had never been involved in politics before. I recognize just how disfunctional our system of government is. However, the most amazing thing to me is how uneducated voters are about who the candidates really are. What we have seen from Rick Perry and Herman Cain are just two examples of the difference between what politicians say and do. We will never fix our many problems unless we find candidates who are truly committed to their stated positions. If you knew nothing else about Sarah Palin than the fact that she quit half-way through her first term as governor, then it should be clear that she didn’t run for Governor of Alaska because she wanted to make a difference for Alaska. If you watched her parading Trig before the Republican Convention, holding him face forward so that everyone could see that he was a special needs child, you know that she wasn’t trying to protect her child, but was using him for her own political and financial gain. Dragging Trig on the bus trip when she was signing books was horrible. Todd could have stayed home to meet his special needs, but instead Palin used Trig again to gain sympathy. As she appeared in the cold wearing a coat and hat, Trig appeared barefoot, without a coat, and was allowed to walk through the parking lot without shoes. Any mother who loved their child and was focused on what was in the best interest of the child would never allow that. Sarah Palin will fall from the public eye in a short time, but Trig will be plagued for life with Sarah Palin as his mom.

All that noise, and what your points comes down to is the adolescent “you’re just jealous?”
Jealous of what? Seriously, I want to know exactly what I’m supposed to be jealous of.
Grow up.

What a spot on response, Malia, and thanks for the service you do towards providing accurate information, humorous biting commentary, and a forum for those who recognize what a danger the current GPO/Republican/Big Money/Fundie Extremists/Know Nothings have been and will continue to be unless they are stopped!
BTW . . . DeeD, you state “You condemn people who choose a post-secondary education”. WRONG, FAIL, Palin (among others) doesn’t have a post-secondary (college) degree and the argument has never been about looking down on people w/o college degrees, the disdain is because Palin (and her ilk) do not value education for all who want it, they devalue learning, knowledge, science, personal development and broader opportunities for our children’s future. Nobody really cares if someone foolishly chooses to forgo furthering their education as much as they can IF its their choice, but nobody in this country should not be able to pursue higher education, rich or poor.
Palin, Santorum, Gingrich, et al, hate education because educated people with critical thinking skills can see through the manipulative hate platforms they present – much like it was against the law to teach slaves how to read and write – they want to keep you uneducated, poor, and easily manipulated
- as is clearly obvious in your case. In Palin’s case, specifically – her lack of education is very apparent. I don’t care how many colleges she went to, nor how many years it took – she is NOT someone who obtained nor “chose” post-secondary education. While it is true that sometimes people are able to overcome the lack of education – it IS RARE – education increases the chances of future success, opportunities, etc.
The sad thing about Palin is (and you) – her attitudes towards education and sex education have resulted in 3 high school drop outs, numerous babies out of wedlock, children who have very few prospects except for those provided through their parents – whose own income stream is in decline. She should be ashamed of what she’s done to her children – I doubt Piper will succeed in graduating HS – how could she – your Queen Esther will make sure of THAT!
