People have been known to call Sarah Palin a “dumb ass.” Whether commenting on dike building, identifying where Ronald Reagan went to college, or giving a history lesson about Paul Revere warning the British, Sarah Palin has established herself as an irrefutable “dumb ass.” In case anyone forgot just how foolish she is, Sarah has reminded us in repeated interviews by using words that are not words. Those might include “refudiate,” “misunderestimate,” “squirmish,” and “wee-weed up.” She made reference to our “North Korean allies” and wrote on her hand while criticizing the President for using a teleprompter. She proved she doesn’t know about any U.S. Supreme Court cases other than Roe v. Wade, and thinks Africa is a country. She called Joe Biden “Senator O’Biden” while debating him.

Now Sarah Palin made reference to John King of CNN, the debate moderator, as a “dumb arse.”  Palin wasn’t saying that in fact John had said anything foolish or incorrect. She justified calling him that name because he asked a question of Newt Gingrich during the debate last night about his ex-wife’s claim that Newt had asked her for an open-marriage. Palin suggested that John deserved this title because the American public could “care less” about the candidate’s marital history. The irony is obvious. If there is one thing that Sarah Palin has focused media attention on, it is her family. At the beginning of every show of Sarah Palin’s Alaska she declared that she loved Alaska like she loves her family. The title of her book was America by Heart; Reflections on Family, Faith, and Flag, and she devoted an entire chapter to “Raising Republicans.” She said “My family is my true North.” (pg. 91). “For me, the rule is put your family first, because our families are our most loyal friends and greatest blessings we have in life.(pg. 92) Thus it would seem out of character for Sarah Palin to criticize the media for reporting on a story that a candidate failed to honor the relationship with his family that Palin has cited as being so important. It would be like advocating abstinence education even though you were pregnant when you married. It would be like having a special needs child and then failing to meet his regular needs. It would be like calling an author a child molester when he had never done anything inappropriate to you or your children. It would be like saying that your daughter who has a three year old child is a virgin. It would be like saying that you are Undefeated when you lost the last election that you entered.

On second thought, this attack of the barracuda is in character. Not only was it predictable, but we could have written the transcript for Palin, and the only thing she would have to write in would be her choice of names to use…dumb ass, kook writer, corrupt bastard, puppy kicker, child molester, limp, impotent, gutless.  Now the only question is who is the dumb ass?  Is it the person asking the question at the GOP debate, or is it the person asking the question on Fox News about the question asked at the GOP debate.  If the question asked wasn’t relevant, then how is the question about the question relevant?
