Herman Cain, Michele Bachmann, and Rick Perry were each told by God to run for President. If Newt talked to God, we haven’t heard about it. Maybe the reason he doesn’t talk to God is that he doesn’t speak to himself. He already knows what he is thinking. Last night Newt Gingrich’s second wife Marianne gave an interview disclosing that Newt had suggested that they should agree to have sex with other people. It is the comments regarding sex that everyone is talking and writing about today.
However we have known for a long time that Gingrich has had three wives, affairs, and a history of unfaithfulness. The more important revelation from Newt’s ex-wife was that he said, “It doesn’t matter what I do. People need to hear what I have to say. There’s no one else who can say what I can say. It doesn’t matter what I live.”
Given this quote, it is important to remember the story Rachel Maddow did about Newt. In her report she quoted Newt saying:
- He made Romney’s career possible, and Mitt Romney is rich today because of him.
- It is his “destiny” to save America.
- “People like me are what stand between us and Auschwitz.”
- (In a hand written note of Newt’s) “It is my mission to advocate for civilization.” Newt wrote that he was a teacher of the rules of civilization and leader of civilized forces.
When Newt was brought before the House of Representatives for 80 ethics violations, the House voted overwhelmingly, 395-28, to reprimand Gingrich and to fine him $300,000. The Republican Representative, Nancy Johnson, who chaired that ethics committee stated:
“Today we conclude this case by imposing a heavy penalty on the leader of this House. It is a tough penalty, unprecedented and appropriate.”
It seems that Gingrich thinks that the rules that apply to OTHER people do not apply to him. In an act of defiance, the day after being elected to his 11th term of office Gingrich announced his resignation. Gingrich stated, “I’m willing to lead but I’m not willing to preside over people who are cannibals. My only fear would be that if I tried to stay, it would just overshadow whoever my successor is.”
Newt Gingrich is a dangerous man. He is delusional. He thinks he is above the law. He seems to perceive himself as all-powerful. He seems to perceive himself as the savior of mankind. It’s now clear why Sarah and Todd Palin have endorsed Gingrich.

Malia–
It’s amazing to read that the audience cheered when Newt lambasted the MSM, missing the obvious larger issues;
* he is deflecting their attention from his serious personal ethical lapses
* he is deflecting attention from his serious ethical lapses while in Congress
* he is showing what a hothead he is — scarcely the temperament we need in a president
With luck Newt will implode as several pundits have predicted, but in the meantime, he is conducting a negative, divisive campaign to further his regal ambitions.

BW,
You are right of course, but it amazes me that he is still in the race!

Sarah and Todd searched their hearts and souls, and after careful vetting and finding the candidate whose “Christian Family Values and Morals” most closely aligned with their own Godly, Saintly, Christlike code of conduct chose Newt Gingrich.
After all – aren’t marital infidelity, pimping, whoring, failure to model good behavior to your children and country, self-indulgence, bullying, lying, cheating, and abandonment of your children and (NOT) seeing to their needs instead of your own needs for immediate self-gratification all such strong Family Values? Besides, both Sarah and Todd expect $$$ pay offs for their “endorsements”.
Hey, you Fundies, you! Is this what you mean as the “Family Values and Christian Mores” you want to legislate for America – you know, to force more children into being janitors and having premarital sex and illegitimate births just like the legacy of the Palin children. More uneducated children unable to compete in a global economy, nay – even in Wasilly? Such noble commonsense, conservative Christian goals!!!
Palins and Gingrichs, a truly Holy match made in heaven. Perhaps Todd and Newt can get together for some recreational pimpin ‘and whorin’ for a true bonding boys will be boys activity, and Sarah and Callista can get together for some of their own sexual thrills with some boy toys, or perhaps get matching boob jobs to show off to the boys when they get home.

Marleycat,
Newt needs to be clear that most of his girls won’t get an account at Tiffany’s.

Too true, Malia, and you are one astute, funny lady to point that out!!!
I wonder how Newtie would feel about his son in laws treating his daughters the same way – AND hightailing it when they came down with serious illnesses to boot. I guess his daughters, and Callista Helmet Head should make sure they stay as healthy as possible, since surely they know what their fate would be if they get sick!
Also too, since Newt stated Callista doesn’t care what he does sexually with other women. does this mean that it’s entirely possible that their marriage was an open marriage and other Helmet Heads are soon to be crawling out of the woodwork? If that comes to pass, I don’t believe many people will be surprised or empathetic – since the behavior is condoned by all of them.
OT – and what about that other religious fanatic extremist – Rick Santorum re: wants to ban birth control, repeal Roe v. Wade, and take away women’s rights to control their own lives? His stated reason for the ban on birth control is because it gives women and men the freedom to be engaging in sex as they see fit – and that’s just plain wrong! Yet his wife lived with an abortion doctor for 8 YEARS with no children being born of that relationship – and only ended because the doctor, being all of 41 YEARS her SENIOR, did not want any more children (his own being grown or older than Karen at the time).
I find that incredibly odd, that Karen Santorum went from one dominant man to another dominant man, obviously cared very little about abortion as an issue, and must have used birth control for those 8 years to prevent pregnancy! And, does his opposition against birth control only concern women’s access to the “Pill”, or does it extend also to tubal ligations, hysterectomies as well as removing men’s access to condoms, vasectomies, AND the rhythm method. NO SEX except for Procreation!!!!
Methinks, like all the other fake religious blowhards that the Santorums do practice birth control – or there would be a lot more than 5 (?) children in that family! Another case of do as I say, not as I do religious charlatan!

That’s all they did was DEFLECT! And blame OBAMA for NEWTS wife telling the TRUTH about Newt’s clearly self-absorbed conceited pompous self! WTH? sheeze! And it’s OBAMA’s fault the Mitt lies like there’s no tomorrow about his wealth. These people really insult the integrity of every man woman and child –except those in that auditorium. The people in SC and more specifically in that audience..are some seriously barbaric uncivilized cold blooded empty hearted stupid imcompassionate and obviously RICH people. Nuf said. Not that I’m trying to bring into the mix..but one couldn’t notice that there was only 1 black rich woman in the audience. And she cheered Newt! wth?

Think about what was said.
He wanted an ‘Open Marriage’.
Does that mean he did not want to file for divorce(hurting his career) so that the responsibility/fault would be on his wife?
I didn’t want the divorce, Marianne did .
OR did he really not want to marry Callista just use her as a mistress?
Either way, he doesn’t come out looking well. How the evangelicals can tolerate this crap is beyond me.
And why is he allowed to dictate the conversation? He should be asked a question repeatedly until he answers, not changes the subject!

Diane,
He attacks anyone who might ask a hard question, like he did last night of John King of CNN. After the debate everyone was lauding Newt’s response, and suggesting the question was out of line. Of course it is the question everyone wanted an answer to.

Well the audience made it plain in South Caroline. The family values, evangelical hypocrites are all out there. Sin all you want all week long, and beg forgiveness of their sins by Sunday. Go to church and act holy and humble. Only the Grinch isn’t holy and he sure isn’t humble.
What an act. Read at Andrew Sullivans, some of the responses from reporters are devastatingly brutal about his many chins, goblin eyes and Joe McCarthy hypocrasy.
But, I think his former wife should try to forgive and get on with her life. She obviously hates him, and hate isn’t good for someone who has MS. He hurt her, she hurt his first wife, and so it goes. A mistress becoming a wife opens up the position of mistress for someone else.
Marianne has shot her one barb, and unless she has something better, no one will listen.
This was a moral issue. She probably knows of loads of ethical lapses.
The audience was horrible. Hand picked by his backers?

Didn’t his second wife (and Newt) say he did not get involved with her until the first marriage was already over? At least a divorce in progress? If so, that wouldn’t make her as bad as Callista. In my book- even if there weren’t many other reasons to keep Newt out of the White House, Callista would be enough. She will never be MY First Lady. I can’t believe that a man and woman who knowingly engaged in an 8 year affair would be suitable to be the President and First Lady of these United States. Without even having to bring up his terrible ideas and policy he would implement, how can either of them ever be trusted?

MTinMO,
I agree and think Newt is evidence of just how desperate the GOP is to find a candidate other then Romney. If Newt should get the nomination, I think it would guarantee re-election of Obama.

Newt is a pig and he belongs as far away from the WH as our votes can push him. Have been reading the ethics report about Newt. Can hardly wait until I really get into it.

It is outrageous and he is delusional. The fact that he is one of the best candidates the GOP
can come up with says a lot!

I did not hear what Sarah Palin said as an endorsement of Newt except for the South Carolina primary. She specifically said she would vote for him in the SC primary in order to keep “the mix going”, which I take to mean that she doesn’t want Romney to be declared the de facto nominee this early in the game. Of course that leads me to believe that either she or some other person may plan on entering the race- well after the majority of debates and caucuses are out of the way and before the Republican convention. I think that she has not given up on it but she knows the more time there is before the nomination and election, the more time to insert foot, or in her case- feet. Go back and listen to her statement- she did not say she was endorsing Gingrich at all. (I can’t imagine she would after the things Newt has said about her in the past. She does hold grudges!)

MTinMO,
I think you are right and Palin is working very hard to stay in the forefront of the Republicans’ minds, and hasn’t endorsed anyone directly as she wants the candidates to air all their baggage and then either she’ll endorse the leader or she’ll throw her hat in after all the debating is over!

One lesson here about talking to God, the result isn’t always what you expect. They should have learned from the Empress. Just because God tells you to run for President, doesn’t mean you will win. I’m beginning to wonder if God sent all these people to run so that Ron Paul wouldn’t be lonely.

aj,
You must be right because everyone who might otherwise talk to Ron Paul is probably doing heroine and wouldn’t be great conversationalists.
