Although I cannot stomach bachman on my best day, I don’t agree with the mother putting an 8 yr old child in this position. The mom may have wanted to drive home the point that bachmans’ ignorant, lack of understanding and respect for the gay community hurts everyone, especially children. But that wasn’t the way to do it.
Bachman is so creepy. How do these lunatics manage to even get into office to begin with? Be interesting to see if she gets voted out the next time around.

Sarah Palin has a serpent's heart
I posted that video on my blog. I don’t like the way the mom used her kid to make a political statement, we get that enough from WGE, but it speaks volumes as to what Michele’s reaction is. It was like “get away from me!”

According to what I read, the mother was too nervous to do it herself, but her child wanted to. I didn’t read ‘coercion’ into that event. Anyway I think that sometimes what gets delivered by a child has more forcefulness than when adults wrap their points in more guile.

I don’t believe the mother put this young boy up to this. You can be guaranteed that he’s been exposed, in person, to rantings and pure hate against his mother when they walk down the street; when they walk in a mall, some of the clerks in stores who refuse to serve them, great chance he’s been bullied in school, playground, etc. too — too many other places to mention.
He may appear shy asking the question which I think has more to do with the way Bachmann is standing and leaning over the table. Children of LGBT kids have been ‘on the scene’ to witness and in the case of themselves, be on the receiving end of pure hate.
There is also the fact of the videos played on news and cable shows that children can be in their home where they can hear as they can be innocently in earshot playing with a game. This hate makes impressions on and also shapes these kids. They might not answer what seems simple questions in school, but man these kids want so much to speak up on this as in this case — it’s his Mom.
I wanted to hug that little man. He in his mind spoke up for his Mom and he did it beautifully. His Mommy doesn’t need fixing!! Just WOW!!!!

I have an 8-year-old.
A kid that age is completely capable of understanding and speaking out on this issue, especially if it’s personal to him and his mother.

jk,
Absolutely, and I am sure the child is really upset that people like Bachmann is saying that his mom is doing something wrong!

I’ll buy that the kid was game to deliver the message when his mother was too nervous. Children can be protective of their parents, as well as parents being protective of their children. Works both ways.
Kids don’t know what adults do, and can be more sensitive and nervous about some things, and less nervous about others.
Depends on the child.

For 5000 years, “marriage” has meant “a contract between one man and one woman”, not some other random combination of humans because it feels good. That definition of marriage is the bedrock of human society. MB’s response meant that society should not endorse gay marriage by giving it the high status of “marriage”. Ignore the perverted and false “interpretations” of her comments by gay media bloggers. She remains the most principled Constitutional Conservative on the American political stage.
This was a particularly moronic screed on MB’s commonsense response and instruction to clueless gay activist students. The radical left, gay media no longer even pretends to report political news but instead feeds us radical left gay propaganda.
The argument for “gay marriage” is equally valid (and equally invalid) for 1 man-2 women and for 2 women-1 man; etc. The logical extension of allowing “gay marriage” is legalizing polygamy.

Robert,
I understand and respect your right to feel that marriage should be between a man and a woman. The problem as I see it is that because marriage and its consequences are dictated by the government, we can no longer rely upon religion to determine who can marry whom. For example if you die without a will, your spouse inherits everything. That is a law in most states. Thus to dictate who can marry whom is in essence endorsing a religion and last time I checked we were supposed to have separation of church and state. Then there is the law that protects a spouse who doesn’t want to be called to testify against his/her spouse in court. Again, the same law should apply to a gay or lesbian couple if heterosexual couples have that advantage. The list goes on and on. In my mind if we are to refuse the right of a person to choose their spouse, regardless of race or gender, then we must remove all laws from the books regarding treatment of heterosexuals as different than everyone else. The easier and less costly solution is to simply allow couple to make their own decisions about who they want to marry. If you read the language of the U.S. Supreme Court in Loving v. Virginia, you will see that while they are talking about an interracial marriage, they could be talking about a gay marriage.
