It was last July when Sarah Palin announced that it would be August or September before she would declare her intention to run. With only two weeks remaining in September, we are approaching Palin’s own deadline. If Grandma Palin were planning to run, who would be her targets? Who would she have to beat? Rick Perry is the GOP front-runner, and Obama of course would be the eventual target. Because Palin’s approach to campaigning is to attack her opponent, rather than running on any policies or platform, we can determine her intention to run based on the people she attacks. If she were not planning to run, there would be no benefit to attacking the front-runners in the Republican and/or Tea Parties. She has attacked the front runners. She is preparing to run.

When Mitt Romney was ahead in the polls, Palin launched her  attack

Now that Rick Perry is the clear leader in the polls, she has lodged an all-out-attack on him.

In both her interview on Fox

and her facebook page she has singled- out Rick Perry to attack. In her interview with Greta Van Sustern, Palin used the word “preached” when talking about Governors who need to be “held accountable” for increasing the debt within their states. Of course the prayer meeting of Rick Perry with 30,000 of his prayer-warriors came to mind.

The Half-Term Ex-Governor specifically pointed out Michelle Bachmann’s attack on Rick Perry regarding his executive order requiring young girls in Texas to be given the Merck HPV immunization. Sarah Palin then compared her record as Governor of Alaska to Perry’s record in Texas, pointing out that she specifically considered that measure and rejected it. Finally in the interview, Greta gratuitously pointed out that Palin had not even declared her candidacy, and was in third place (obviously behind Romney and Perry).

If Sarah Palin were to run, and if she would have a chance to beat President Obama, it could only be the result of dissatisfaction with the economy. By focusing on “crony capitalism” Palin is directing the conversation to the economy. Forget her history of objecting to any tax increase to rein in the debt. Now that she is close to declaring her intentions, she is beginning to talk about the abuses in corporate America when they realize massive profits but pay little or no taxes.

“Cunning,” “Manipulative,” “Vindictive” are all adjectives we might use to describe Sarah Palin. In June 2010 those words were not the words chosen by Rick Perry when he described Sarah Palin as “one of the great Americans of our time.” It will be hard for Rick Perry to NOW say that Sarah Palin is no longer one of the Great Americans of our time, when she hasn’t done anything as a political leader since that time. If Perry points out the Ignorance of Sarah Palin, he looks like the fool to just be seeing what the rest of us saw three years ago.
