Update Re Letter of Attorney General of Alaska

When I posted the information today regarding the Attorney General’s letter dismissing the Ethics Complaint I filed, I referenced the link of John Tiemessen, Palin’s attorney, where he posted the letter.  I didn’t realize he had only posted the first page of the letter.  Here is the complete letter, with the explanation of why the ethics complaint was dismissed.  Read the letter for yourself and see if it makes sense to you.  If it doesn’t make sense, there is a good reason for that.

  1. In other words, Malia, they agree that you’re right regarding the two year requirement – but they have chosen instead to interpret it “narrowly”, i.e., in some way other than what the law actually says.

Too funny. And it makes the “Attack of the Bots” on you look even dumber than it already did.

It was no accident that Palin’s attorney only posted the first page of the letter. You will see at page two the Attorney General bases his dismissal on the fact that “legislation” is not “legislation” and his dismissal has nothing to do with the statute of limitations. You will see that my complaint is dated June 2, 2011, and the Attorney General conveniently waited to send his letter until after the two year mark from the time the Governor resigned. Now if someone else should file an identical complaint, they will simply dismiss it saying it is not timely and the statute of limitations will have run. Now I know why so many people in Alaska are afraid of Palin. She seems to control the Anchorage Police, and now the office of the Attorney General. Malia

      1. I have never doubted her ability to invoke official corruption – the Anchorage PD statement, for example. That’s why, unlike some, I’ve never gone around bitching about Alaskans who refuse to tell what they know. Those Palins are dangerous; they “pal around” with actual currently active terrorists.

  2. If I am following their “point” – if $arah Palin had formed her own production company & developed the show – applied for & received tax credit – then it MAY have applied since she used legislation for direct personal gain within the 2 year period. However, since she was technically a contract employee of a (the) production company/studio – she did not “directly” gain from the legislation. If her appearance contract included a “bonus” for a portion of the AK State tax credit – there may have been recourse, which is now mute since
the 2 yr ethic period is over.

Again, I believe this is why the delays in releasing the State e-mails. If anything was “slipped through” the redacting process – only a very limited window was open for ethic challenges.

I think their letter really says that the “legislation” doesn’t qualify as “legislation.” Palin was the executive producer of the show so she was part of the organization that produced the show. She made money off the show and her salary was part of Jean Worldwide’s claim for a tax credit, I don’t think what they said makes sense. If this were a court outside Alaska, I think the judge would rule as a matter of law that there was an ethics violation! Malia

  3. When it comes to practicing law, I speak from a wealth of ignorance but the last few years have burned one vital lesson in law into my brain (which you probably learned on Day One of law school): the key to life these days is LOOPHOLES.

Of course, the only problem is FINDing them and sorry to say all I can offer in that regard are my best wishes that you succeed, plus a sincere “Bravo!” for pursuing your complaint.

One other painfully-learned lesson, if it helps: detractors are for spreading demanure on defarms.

I don’t even think this is a “loophole.” I think this was EXACTLY what the law was designed to do…prevent the appearance of impropriety, and that’s the reason there were people offended by Palin making money because of the law she passed while Governor. I think the AG is not just wrong, but it’s embarrassing that they tried to explain why the claim was dismissed, and by doing so they made it clear just how ludicrous it was that they dismissed the claim.

Yes, I’ve seen it and it is no accident that Palin’s attorney only posted the first and last page of the letter. Page two is the part of the letter that explains the basis for the dismissal, and the AG basically says that legislation doesn’t mean legislation.

The problem with this article is they didn’t have the entire letter from the AG so they don’t realize just of full of it the AG is.

  4. Malia – thank you for all that you do. I was just at the Huffington Post. I saw that Palin made a remark about the president, again linking him with terrorists because she is upset that some called the Tea Party/ right wing “terrorists” when they held our country hostage over the debt ceiling. “I know you are, but what am I.” Additionally, Murdoch’s spokesperson Hannity brought up Congresswoman Gifford’s return to place here vote in his interview with Palin???. I mean, is there really no shame whatsoever with these vile and ignorant people. Do they not see how much they lack any reason or sensibility and civility? Do they not see that most detest their ignorance and lack of awareness and lack of knowing what is right or wrong or approriate or inappropriate? I just cannot deal with them any longer. They are beyond the parameters of what is acceptable behavior in civilized & rational human beings.

the summary dismissal of the ethics complaint is evidence to me that this is not about truth and justice but instead about corruption and cronyism.

  5. Malia, my mouth dropped open! I’ve seen many things like this happen in the small town I lived in as a teenager, but not at state level.

O/T: Michele Bachmann supported a terrorist group. I hope the MSM reports on this, since the tea-people were so outraged at Biden’s reference to them as “terrorists.”

  6. I hope Alaskans are paying attention to all of this. The Republican Administration needs to be voted out in the next election cycle. It is absolutely amazing to watch the manipulation that occurs within their ranks that continues to cover Sarah Palin’s misdeeds that are so blatantly against the law.

Thanks for your hardwork, Malia. You know they are going to come after you, I’m sure. Hang in there!

  7. Malia, you did good regardless of the outcome. Is it fair? NO!!!! Personally, I expected this just because anything with Palin is just bizarre. It NEVER makes an sense.

Just remember the bots can spin and spin but the rest of us that can read, write & use our brains know what the score is.

  8. Great job. Keep your jackhammer running on full power. It should be very obvious by now from all the outstanding work you have done regarding the Palin corruption in Alaska, that the long arm of Palin is still very much up and running and it has an iron grasp! This woman, along with her family, are lying, shady, crooked, fraudulent people, and without any doubt, the state of Alaska covers up for them.

The media has failed beyond comprehension to hold ANY of these people accountable. Fox displays nothing but obsequiousness toward $P, which one expects actually, since it’s Fox. There are some exceptions, but not nearly enough main media outlets have NOT taken this hypocritic harpie witch to task. It has fallen on the shoulders of the bloggers (and various authors) who see and understand the truth and are dedicated to exposing her.

Keep pounding away (it drives the bots out of their tiny minds). The country has enough problems–it does not need $P. You perform an outstanding public service. Thanks.

What amazes me is that there are so few people devoting the time to making people aware of the true Sarah Palin. I am hoping as the AP pickes up the story that more questions will be asked, and when they are, I think people will be wondering how and why the Alaska AG was allowed to dismiss this claim.

      1. No matter what has been brought to their attention, whether it’s the police and the Tripp/Todd episodes, the Alaska AG, TLC tax credits, the length of time it took to get her e-mails released (like there was EVER a chance those e-mails would contain anything that would seriously have an impact on her), all of these issues have gone mostly unchallenged, except by bloggers and authors. You are right, it is definitely AMAZING so few people have devoted time to making others aware of this flagitious witch.

There are so many issues ranging from Dairy Gate, to Trooper Gate to the multitude of “other gates” along with the pregnancy hoax that have never been SERIOUSLY investigated by mainstream outlets. She was always given a free pass and allowed to “walk”. (The controversies that surround her translate into money for them).

Because she now has big sums of money, and also because she installed her loyal cronies, and is still very “connected” she wields power In Alaska, Money buys cover-ups, (and I suspect that in addition to her pac, she has undisclosed big financial backers using her to smear the president and rouse the rabble).

It is almost unbelievable that the AP even picked up the story, but it’s wonderful that they did. I think everyone waits for a light at the end of this dark, crooked dangerous $P tunnel. I greatly admire what you have done and are doing with this blog.

Thank you so much for your words of support, and it is unbelievable to me that so much corruption exists in politics today. I will keep trying as long as she is a threat to our country. Malia

  9. If there was no suggestion that the legislature intended to change the original intent of that particular definition, then why did they bother to amend it at all?

The whole purpose of amending definitions and/or legislation is to change their original intent.

It seems like it would be easy enough to research the legislative intent, if you still have access to a good law library or simply by contacting some of the actual lawmakers in AK. Some of them seem to be willing to talk, based on postings I’ve seen on other blogs, so it seems like they could clue you in on the intent behind the change.

I can’t believe an AG actually wrote that and isn’t embarrassed to still show his face in public. AK really is so incredibly corrupt. I feel sorry for the good residents who live there. They have no chance with a legal system run like this.

  10. Malia, WOW! I do not understand that letter at all. It is an embarrassment to the state is right. I think you should send this all to the Federal Attorney Generals office. Just my opinion. This is nonsense. His rationale makes no
sense and this is disgusting. What do you plan to do? I am going to keep reading. Keep up the good work. Could these people be any more obvious in
the way that they lie and twist words so that Sarah is never accountable for anything she does? Doesn’t it even bother them as people? The fact that
it doesn’t tells you a great deal about their character.

I am still so stunned that it was outright dismissed that I haven’t planned my next step. I did talk to the attorney in the Alaska AG’s office and she said there is no appeal! i am hoping that someone will actually read the statute and see just how clear it is, and then read the AG’s letter and see just how outrageously groundless it is and write a story, or better yet somebody like 60 minutes or Anderson Cooper should do a story. If she runs it will be relevant, so we may need to wait to see if she is running. Malia

Yes, I think all of Alaska should be outraged that the person who claims Government should get out of the way is the very government that she claims should support her movies made at the expense of the Alaskan tax payers. It is very convenient that the person controlling the Alaskan government is Sean Parnell who Palin put in office, and the AG was appointed by him. Thus the person put in a position to determine this ethics violation was indirectly put in office by the very person made the subject of the Ethics Complaint, and there is evidently no appeal from his decision. That means that the final arbiter of the decision about whether Sarah Palin violated the Alaska Code of Ethics is a person Palin put in office! Malia
