Crooks and Liars exposes Newt Gingrich today for the hypocrite that he is. While speaking about his commitment to God and Country, he explained that sometimes he allowed his patriotism to interfere with his commitments. It was purely coincidental that he presented the terms of his divorce to his first wife while she was hospitalized with uterine cancer. It was purely coincidental that he terminated his second marriage over Mother’s Day weekend and the same weekend when that second wife was diagnosed with MS. Callista is his third wife. Mother’s Day is approaching, and Newt has indicated that he is feeling so patriotic that he may run for President. Given his overwhelming compulsion to do what is best for the country, I hope for Callista’s sake, that she avoids the doctor until June.

It was the “passion” he felt for his country that made him behave inappropriately? The truth is, Newt was horny and his wife was too sickly to satisfy his physical needs so he went looking elsewhere. So if his third wife gets sick he’ll probably do the same thing…there is a pattern here but who in their right mind would want to have sex with Newt?

Newt could not have been less effective if he had borrowed the line from comedian Flip “The devil made me do it” Wilson. Why is it that someone like Gingrich can go on some right leaning religious TV show and spout such nonsense and expect anyone to believe his warped excuse for being a philanderer. Now that he is 67, he is suddenly all grown up? Spare me! The truth of the matter is, he now has a “trophy wife” and is probably gulping Viagra like it’s candy.
It’s as true now as it was back when. It’s the power, the celebrity and the feeling that you are invincible. It’s Potomac Fever and it never goes away. Better watch out Callista, there are younger “trophies” just waiting.
