On Sept 17th, I reported that the Alaska Fish and Game Department had confirmed that Sarah Palin did not have a hunting license in 2008 and 2009.  http://malialitman.wordpress.com/2010/09/17/that-dog-dont-hunt.  On Oct. 5, 2010 I reported that in 08 Palin did not have a commercial fishing license.

http://malialitman.wordpress.com/2010/10/05/sarah-palin-broke-the-law.  An independent source at Palingates has confirmed the same information. http://palingates.blogspot.com.  The Oct. 5th post was especially troubling given the video on you tube of Palin engaged in commercial fishing in 2008.  After the Oct. post, I assumed someone at the Alaska Fish and Game Department would undertake to determine if the Governor of Alaska had violated the law in Alaska with regard to hunting or fishing without a license.  More than two months have passed and there has been no report of an investigation regarding these potential violations.  Given Palin’s speech before millions of people at the RNC Convention in 2008 when she advertised herself as a hunter, I assumed that the Alaska Fish and Game Department would immediately conduct an investigation.  If any investigation has been conducted by the Alaska Fish and Game Department, it has not gotten any media attention.

This morning I called the Alaska Fish and Game Department and spoke with Stella to determine if there was a person in the Enforcement Division that I could speak with.  After explaining my concern she referred me to “Scott” in the Trooper division.  After explaining my concern to Scott, he referred me to the Commissioner’s Office within the Department of Public Safety.  I explained to Joyce Van Sickle that I live in Dallas, and do not presume to be an expert on Alaska law or violations of it.  However I explained that I had been informed that Palin did not have a commercial fishing license in 2008 by representatives at the Fish and Game Department, this information was independently verified by Palingates, that videos of her involved in commercial fishing in 2008 were available on the internet, that I had posted these on my blog over two months ago, and was surprised that there had been no news of an investigation.  Joyce explained that the You Tube Videos of Sarah Palin might not be authentic, and that if I had not personally seen her fishing that this evidence might not be sufficient.  Of course I explained that I could not verify the truth or authenticity of the videos, but I was confident that someone from the Enforcement Division would want to watch them.  Even though I requested information about the type of investigation that would be undertaken, and any feedback that might be forthcoming, I was not provided with any information.  I offered to provide the links to the videos by e-mail but Joyce didn’t want to give me an e-mail address to which I could send a link.

It is frustrating to seek the truth and be thwarted in my attempts.  If Sarah Palin had a commercial fishing license in 2008, I’d like to publish a retraction.  If the You Tube videos were not authentic, I’d like to clarify that.  However if Sarah Palin was the Governor of Alaska, and is a potential contender for the office of the President of the United States, I’d like to know if she thinks the law doesn’t apply to her.  My understanding is that “real” Americans who hunt or fish in Alaska have to obtain hunting and fishing licenses.  Because she has characterized herself as a hunter or fisherwoman in her TLC show, “real” Americans would expect her to know the law, and comply with the law regarding hunting and fishing licenses.  This is not about politics; it’s about honesty.  “Common sense” would indicate to a hunter or fisher that a license is required.  Chuck Heath and Todd Palin seem to have that “common sense.”  It appears Sarah Palin does not.
