Webster defines a “hypocrite” as a person who pretends to be what he or she is not.  Either Sarah Palin and Glenn Beck are hypocrites, or they both suffer from dementia.  Both are equally dangerous traits for “news reporters”.  Perhaps we should alert Fox news who advertises its news as being “fair and balanced”.  Many of us missed the interview Beck did of Palin immediately after the inauguration of Barack Obama, so let me remind you.  See, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y40D1Kgb8ng.  In this interview, before Palin had been hired as an “analyst” for Fox news, and before she resigned her position as Governor (even though she is not a quitter), comments were made that now make it clear that both Beck and Palin are hypocrites.

  1. Beck “congratulates” Palin on becoming a Gramdma, and describes her as “one hot Grandma”.  However in his recent appearance with Sarah Palin in Tulsa Oklahoma, Beck mentioned that one of the problems in America today is the deterioration of morals, and specifically mentioned the 40% of babies that are born out of wedlock.  See, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiZFzh62noU I guess he forgot that this “deterioration of morality” had occurred in the family of his co-host.
  2. Beck asked Palin immediately after the inauguration of Barck Obama if President Obama would be Palin’s president too.  Palin confirmed that “absolutely”, Americans have an obligation to support our President.  However the rally in Tulsa, hosted by Beck and Palin, was given the name “Taking Back Our Country”.   Palin has encouraged the violence in our country by her posting of a map of the United States with targets on it, gun sights, and suggested that it was time to re-load.  Even Elizabeth Hasselbeck, of the View,  found Palin’s actions to be “despicable”.  See, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcGOr1DwH1Q
  3. As Palin’s popularity has declined, her willingness to support our President has also declined.
  4. Right after the inauguration, Palin explained to Glen Beck that if anyone disagrees with the President they should “speak up”, but that we should remember “United We Stand”, and that it was a vast majority of Americans who elected Barack Obama.  However even Bill O’Reilly of Fox News has indicated Palin needs to go to “Political College.”  Bill O’Reilly couldn’t get Beck to agree that Barack Obama was clear in his campaign that he was focused on the health care crisis, energy independence, and the need for improvement in our educational system in America.  Beck seemed to have suffered from memory lapse when asked to agree that Barack Obama promised that our government would accept responsibility for beginning to fix these problems, if he were elected.  See,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EcBvpIVWD6A
  5. Glen Beck doesn’t see a need to respect or even be polite to callers who are sympathetic to persons who have medical problems.  See, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGeZQrpZbjI Certainly, Beck,  Palin, and the Tea Baggers seem to share the belief that if they disagree with the action of our elected officials, violence is justified.

There are a few positive signs we can take away from the Tulsa rally.  The first is that Palin evidently recognized that she was not competent to speak intelligently about politics.  While in Oklahoma Palin limited her comments to freedom, the persons serving in the military, and country music which were each subjects guaranteed to be met with great approval from the crowd in Tulsa.  She also used a podium and notes written on paper, instead of her hand, so it appears that either she has learned from her mistakes, or that she has found a product that removes sharpie from skin.  Another good sign was that the ticket price for the Tulsa rally was way down from previous Palin speaking engagements.  Palin had to rely upon country and western bands, and Glen Beck to attract a crowd.  Additionally Palin purportedly didn’t get her usual speaker’s fee of $100,000.00.    Finally, it appears that additional events of this sort have not yet been booked, as there is uncertainty about how well-received Sarah Palin will be at future events.

There is one additional positive indication that Beck has lost his appeal.  In his radio show he suggested that any Christian person who’s priest or pastor made a reference to caring for disadvantaged people, those who are poor or in need of medical care, should leave their church …and not walk but run.   He explained that any reference to social justice, was just a disguise for communism. See, http://www.politicsdaily.com/2010/03/08/glenn-beck-urges-listeners-to-leave-churches-that-preach-social.

We all know that Beck and Palin share similar views on many issues.  What you might not know is that they share two other things in common … they both have “special needs kids”, … and they are both “special needs parents.”  Now that we have health care reform, I expect their kids will get more of the care they need.  I am not sure medical science has discovered ANY cure, or even a treatment, for what ails Palin and Beck!
